Title: KOTOR II on Vista
Post by: lenard27 on May 04, 2007, 11:54:07 am
So I don't know how many of you guys play knight of the Old Republic II but it doesn't work on Vista...really bums me out.  If anyone knows how to get it to work or if a patch will be released let me know :D  ( The original KOTOR works but thats only if you have the 'Best of the PC' version b/c it was optimized for Vista)

Probably better to have it here.

Do a Google search for the topic...there's a wealth of information on how to deal with problems relating to older software and Vista.  Compatibility mode fixes most of it.

Do you have an XP install disk?  If so, you could use a Gparted live CD to shrink your primary partition, then create another one, install XP to it, and have Vista dual boot with XP.  (Or just toast Vista and go XP, but I'm not sure you'd want to do that.)

See if you can buy an OEM XP Home or Pro disc online (eBay?) - Gold or SP1 is cheaper than SP2.  When you get it, use AutoStreamer to make a new disc including SP2.  Then use this disc to install XP on a second partition.

ok...wel this may be a bit of a shocker but i bought a laptop with..........integrated graphics!!!! but i got a really good deal and i'm a student on a budget so i had to make some concessions....KOTOR I runs just fine tho so when i get KOTOR II working it should be good to go (in theory seeing as how they are the same engine and all).

Also if you are playing KOTOR II you usally need the fixes that can be found on team-gizkas page

No, people don't need those team-gizka stuff. I never downloaded anything unofficial for KotOR II, and it works perfectly on my machine. Actually, I recommend people not downloading any unofficial files IF their official version doesn't work.

Yeah ok guess I will have to agree with this but since I always have run into some kind of trouble I simply installed all of them
