:welcome:

Welcome to the HLPBB.  Exits are to your left, right, and anywhere else you can imagine.  In case of attack, there is a flamethrower under your seat.  However, due to budget cuts, they have been filled with water.  Plasma rifles are located in the weapons lockers, which are only openable by admins, V-gods, or a hyper intelligent shade of the color blue.  When wandering the corridors, be sure to check out our various locales, such as disco Inferno, the Babylon Project embassy, or the memorial to the GTVA Colossus, the biggest water gun the universe has ever seen.  When wandering the ducts, you may stumble upon Carl the shivan.  If so, give him your lunch and back away slowly.  Maybe you'll live.  Thank you and have a pleasant stay.

Please, no mentioning the third installment of our favourite game, it ain't gonna happen. Also it's worth mentioning that if you're gonna start a thread about politics, religion or evolution, it's gonna start a flame war, so be prepared!

Oh, and don't take advice from Takashi!  Or at least take it with a pinch of sodium chloride?  ;)

If you would like to attach the mission to your post then people might have a chance of testing it.

You might want to check out the FRED Academy (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/board,125.0.html) also!

If you would like to attach the mission to your post then people might have a chance of testing it.

"Additional Options" > "Browse" (You may have to hit "Preview" first).

Yeah sry bout that name, its got 2 destroyers and 6 cruisers(but one blows up at the very beginning)its a bit much but worth a try in my opinion, besides the point of this(partially)is to find out if it suffers from the syndrome.

Well anything with more than 5 ships at a time is basically BoE. If the player is sidelined and can't do damage then it's BoE. If your graphics card shrivels up and screams in pain then its BoE.

Well if you do not participate the Intrepid will die, trust me you play a part, and if you want i may be able to trim the amount of cruisers.

Don't listen to themm...there are some who like the BOE...as long as it's well done....which doens't come by often...

BoE isn't a bad idea in and of itself. What gives BoE a bad reputation is the number of awful missions that have been made which suffered from BoE Syndrome.

Well anything with more than 5 ships at a time is basically BoE.

The other two are okay but this one is a little arbitrary. The Kings Gambit for instance is way over that limit and isn't a BoE mission.

Anyway the best thing to do is to simply try the mission. :)

let me rephrase that, more cap ships make it more fun, but if it lags, i want no part in it. dodging beams is one of my favorite parts of this game. so my question is, does it lag?

my computer is not top notch, but i have never had a lag problem with either freespace. There was one instace, i had made a mission with 2 destroyers 7 cruisers and...carry the 1...and 40 fighters and bombers. heres the mission, but be warned. Also doging beams has nothing to do with this mission, its freespace 1.

Well that's not at a time, I meant 5 capital ships SIMULTANEOUSLY!!! :shaking:

(unless you count the Mjolnirs, they're flagged as "cruiser") :P

You cna make nice missions wiht tons of warships... as long as you give the player a specific task and the effects of his sucess/faiure are evident.

sry to break up the party, but this thread was to see if my mission was good or not, not to discuss how good or bad BoE's are.
