hello.
i am making an dutch campagne and i want to use my own voice. because the microsoft tekst to speech stuff is talking the dutch stuff like its crap...
i know how to record my voice and stuff but when i put the .wav files in the wav file box i cant hear my voice or its the microsoft sam crap.. :ick:
how can i fix this?
(sorry that i ask so much lately but i doesn't have a clue what to do)

Read the Fred2 help file (an .HTML) which should be in the Freddocs folder and it should explain it all for you.
Hope this helps out.

hmm i checked it out but it didnt helped much :( sorry.
oh btw i do have another problem : my messages are in dutch. but the 'standard' messages like : incomming jump signature hostile configuration are english(duh) can i 'toggle' those ones off?
ps. my freddocs are only pictures. is this right?

You can disable standard messages by going in the Mission Specs in FRED and checking "Disable built-in messages".
For reading the FRED manual, scroll down in your "freddocs" folder and open the file "index.html".

freddocs is everything FRED so it includes the shipyard example mission (which should be moved into missions for it to be used).
have you actually applied the wav file to the message in fred BTW ?

i would love to get lost in a dutch only campaign. Luckily for me i know someone who is dutch. maybe he can help me out.

well its more a chaos campaign :ick:
but its a first try with fred and i just like it to do things my way :) to tell you all the truth the campaign doesnt even happend in the whole gtva story line its just a bunch of weirdness! and for the dutch thing i tought maybe its orginial to make it in dutch :D (with my voice the one of my father and my brother :ick: )
i dunno if im gonna release it because its just to noobish with unoriginal missions... :lol:
you know escort freighers/defend installation/scan cargo depot etc.. (i began shortly so i only got 3 missions.. but im progressing further)
and there alot of ships init some of inferno(asked premission)and some just from the internet.
and im not sure with the story because its a war between belgium and The netherlands :ick: (yeah yeah im gonna change but i just tryed some things) also in the beginning you fly great war era ships like the angel and you end with inferno ships because i use some short of wealth system in the story. when you progress the NL fleet(thats what i call it) wil grow and wil get more money to buy better ships etc.
i know i know all noobish and stuff. but its my way and i like it
edit: what i was forgot to say is that all the nl fleet cap ships in the beginning has normal turrets(terran turret /terran huge turret) and if its progress is has enough money to buy the weakest beam(LTerslash) and so on :D

Actually I tend to think it's a great idea to get all your FRED training done in a n00bie campaign you care little about. Far better than say, writing 20 missions of a campaign you'll decide it later too n00bish to ever release without having to completely re-write it later.

MAking an Axem JAD style ampaign can be a fun learning experience too. :nod:

btw i suddenly at school got an (maybe) orginal idea: The NL fleet finds a special portal(i use a knossos) but it isnt a subspace portal its a portal that transport u to another dimension and that wil be the orginal freespace dimension :D
edit: im gonna ask premission for this but if its possible i let an big fleet of the EA(earth alliance) thru the gate and will become a new enemy maybe its all to complicated for a noob freder like me but i can try it and if its gonna fail that doesnt matter to me i liked it to make mission my own way(for the 3rd time :ick:)

I don't doubt it but if you look at JAD and DEM you'll see they actually require quite complex FREDding. Just cause the campaigns a joke doesn't mean the FREDding is. :)

JAD = Just Another Day
DEM = Deus Ex Machina
Both are FS2 parody campaigns.

I completely Agree, the YMCA sequence is excellent, All credit to him I did some pretty neat stuff on the original 3 year ago Wing Commander Saga stuff with Tolwyn too. :D
Follow the freddocs, that's the best way to learn the basics. :)

You don't need a permission. I'll tell you, however, that you should balance your tables. The EA is a strong opponent even for the advanced GTVA of Inferno, so you should balance it if you want it to face the GTVA of FS2. :)

hehe already done that ;) i made the whole game much faster for more action i tell you the weakest beam the LTerslash has instead of 125(right?) now a power of 2400 and the strongest beam a power of 4000/5000 :D also normal turrets are much faster and have a much faster fire rate also the fighers average speed is now 130 and the cruisers have a HP rating of 300000 and the juggs : 2000000 :D
(yeah i know i screwed a little to much with the tables :ick: )

It's a bit of a sad tale. About 20 missions into TMA I got the idea for a cool prequel mini-campaign (Seeds of Rebellion) which I'm still working on. The problem was that about a year later I revised the plotline for SoR and broke the plotline for TMA in the process. The starting missions based around the campaign beginning basically all ended up having massive plot holes in them.
The problem is that as a result I ended up with the bad guys having no sensible way to lose except by doing something off of the Evil Overlord List (which is something I'm not willing to do). As soon as the bad guys did appear they'd steamroller the GTVA and there would be no chance of the player winning (hell there was little chance of the player surviving the first engagement). :D
Then there is the fact that BSG stole a gigantic plot device integral to the plot and used it themselves which would mean that everyone would think I was copying the show when in fact I'd thought it up independently over 2 years earlier.
But the changes did make SoR much better. So I'm keeping them. :)

Just make both campaigns, as you originally intended, but put them in separate universes. :)

Problem was that it still wouldn't resolve the issues I had with the antagonist. The campaign would go.
Mission 1 : Fly about not doing much
Mission 2 : Fly about not doing much
Mission 3 : Gigantic fleet appears out of nowhere and wipes out the player.
Even if I had the player find the fleets rallying point that would have simply meant he'd get wiped out a mission earlier. Basically I based TMA around the idea of what would an intelligent person do if they wanted to beat the GTVA without having to have a vastly bigger fleet. Only problem was that SoR changed the basic set up a little by removing many of clues about what was going on and antagonist went from challenging opponent to completely unbeatable. :)
What I'll do is make SoR the best campaign I can make it and then see if I can make TMA work. :) Even if it doesn't TMA served it's purpose in that it allowed me to learn FRED. :)

haha ik zal het proberen :) maar hij is nog lang niet klaar. ik denk dat hij klaar is rond het eindde van de zomer vakantie :P (hoop ik)
maar het wordt denk toch de meest vage campagne ooit (en erg noob :P)
maar mischien kan ik hem niet eens releasen want de campaigne editor doet vreemd want hij loopt vast als ik erop klik :S en ik weet niet hoe ik het in een vp file of campagne file kan krijgen(tabels modellen etc) xD en alsti gereleased is is het toch een probeersel.:)
english version: haha i will try it :) but its not even close to complete. i think its ready at the end of the summer vacation :P (i hope). BUT if so its the most vague campaigne ever! (and really noob :P) But maybe there isnt comming an campaigne because my camaigne editor is doing very weird it freezes if i click on it... :S and i dont know how to make a VP file or a Campaigne file (i mean the tables models etc)xD. And if its completed its still my first try. :)

btw my message-list Sexp isnt working properly because the messages are comming after one second i mean if a pilot says: we got unknown fighter classes here. and a sec later without even touchted the unknown classes one of the pilots says: damn these fighters are unbelievable! but the delay between the messages is 10 (10 seconds right?) and it still says the message after 1 second

Don't actually put "4,000". Don't use commas. Just say "4000".

i dont know yet
maybe:) but im still a noob and the voices are funny( i mean my english sucks and that of my friend to because were dutch. another friend is english and plays command he's very good :) )
and still there are alot of tiny bugs + i must ask premission for some models and weapons i use
also i must refine the story because it isnt the freespace 2 story etc but my own (with the same subspace map etc)
and the most important part.. i dont know (yet) how to make .vp (i know it a little but its still very vague to me)
edit : this maybe is weird but there will be 4 races(or organisations) 1: TR (Terran Republic) 2 : EA (earth alliance ( i think im gonna change this due its very unorgininal)) 3: SA (shadow alliance) Thats like Alqaida but than in space :P. 4: still thinking about this one.
my main idea is that every organisation has its own beams (sins the only real race are the terrans) i can use the Red beams for the SA blue/green for the TR and silver/Orange for the EA
also every organisation has the same Capships but They all got other fighters and bombers.
yea its really messed up but i can help my self out i hope :)
but i want to know from you guys: do you like my plan/idea etc?
