Firefighters in New Jersey kept an anxious eye on the weather Wednesday as they battled a massive wildfire that had consumed about 20 square miles of brush after a military jet dropped a flare on a bombing range.

Add to that the Georgia-Florida fires and California (which always seems to be on fire)...

It is rather funny that of all the ordnance dropped on that bombing range, the most damage was done by a flare....

Somehow I doubt that that was really caused by a flare.

Somehow, I wouldn't be surprised if it was.

amerika always has a few wild fires going on. its not really news. its actually good for the soil. i remember this one that was going on near anchorage. i remember it turned the sky a really cool shade of red, and it sorta looked like the sun was going nova. i remember i scared the crap out of my sister with that one, she spent the rest of the day sitting in a cold bath, to avoid getting burned :D

Some years ago a reletively small fire broke out in a place near our vacation place. My father took me there to see firefighting planes dropping water on the flames. There were a lot of curious around the guys from the fire brigade that directed the planes from the ground.

Suddenly a CL-415 came out of nowhere and dropped the water near us. There was some wind and we all got wet :blah:
And we have been lucky: some years before another CL-415 dropped by mistake the water directly on some people near the fire, and some of them got killed by the 7 tons of water that came down from the plane.

Stopping wildfires has actually severely hurt the forests of the United States, while at the same time making the fires that occur worse. So let them burn, and evacuate people who are in the way.
