Any help here would be appreciated. They show up in-game. I was reading some other threads and I'm not quite clear on the process. Do I need to make a new skybox instead of just using FRED's background editor? (that's FRED open)
-
FRED doesn't load the mod selected in the Launcher (which ought to be changed, I think). Wherever your put the Nebulas needs to be selected in FRED's target box.
Example: say you want FRED to load the MediaVps folder. To do this: you create a shortcut to FRED and click Properties (or just click properties on an existing shortcut). In the target box, at the very end (and outside the quotation marks) put a space followed by -mod MediaVps (there is also a space between "mod" and whatever folder you're loading). FRED should now load the MediaVps folder when you use that shortcut.
-
either you "-mod MediaVPs" FRED (as explained above) or you can simply copy the .vp containing lightspeep's nebula into your main folder (or the mod folder you are working with)
the vp contains a new stars.tbl which should override the standart one...

Hey, thanks! One further question: is there a way to get the backgrounds to show up all the time, not just when the background editor is open?
-
Should be a "show backgrounds" option, in the same place as "show models" (view? I"m not sure... one of the menus.)
-
view -> show backgrounds
you might also want "Lighting from Suns" (same menu)

There's a problem when you use varaibles to add or remove background bitmaps.
LS Nebulae are used a lot. I suggest you to put them at the beginning of your table(in case you're using both retail and LS nebulae)because you surely won't be able to add LS nebulae using SEXPs.
