hi, I am trying to find a progie for a friend of mine. you see, he got a web-cam and wants to use it. what programs are there for free (or at a low cost) that I can show him?

oh, I didn't know that... thanks
EDIT: all you need is an email address? and what, they will get a message? I really don't know how web meetings work. all I know is how to install them (which is what I did).

you can use ips as well, which is how i usually go about making it work.
-
ips, what does that stand for? is that the IP? I really don't know about IM and stuff like that.

In linux there's camorama for taking video and pictures with your webcam. In windows you could try the software that came with the webam, logitech features software just like camorama for all of their webcams, but they also include those stupid little motion detection webcam games as well. Other things you can use for webcams is windows live messenger, and yahoo messenger, they have support for webcams, also in windows you might want to try out netmeeting, that's handy cool little programs for webcams and conferencing that was better than yahoo messenger and live messenger at webcams. After that there's skype with support for webcams as well. Another thing you should do is search on google programs called that let you turn your computer into a webcam server and you can stream your webcam video wherever you want on the net with those programs.
Anyway i hope this answers your question. All of the software i mentioned besides camorama are for windows, and are free, i don't know about webcam server programs(linux webcam server programs are free). Anyway, your question was not very descriptive, so i mentioned just about everything for webcams that i could think of, your friend should have fun now.
