See this quote off the VWatch page?
Orange: Here at Volition Watch we're calling for probably the last FS Frenzy ever.
Why don't we try doing one next year?

Why don't we try doing one next year?
Laziness.
-
We'll see - but it's traditionally been V-Watch's baby, if they stop and enough people want one we'll take a look at it but right now we've got a lot of other things to do. It's something to think about in the future though - assuming FSW stops doing them (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)
-
Er... because it requires volunteers?
[finds suitable bludgeoning device to sink idea in]
Keep in mind this community has less to do with that sort of thing than any other, aprticularly what with mods not being allowed on PXO...
-
mods not being allowed on PXO...
That's the main reason. (IMHO) You can do mod servers though, but no stats are saved. Since everyone seems to love stats, that's why we don't see any multiplayer mods...

It's just so much like life...
"HEY! I got a point! Ooh yeah! Now let's go and get... MORE points!
HEY! You cost me a Point, you filthy-"
Aah. So good to see modern economics reflected in games.
But anyway. Yeah, that's why.

What if we DIDN'T use PXO. What if we set up a few servers for the predominant MODs (Like Velocity, TBP, and [p1mp]Acceleration[/p1mp]) and maybe one without MODs. I don't really care about points. And if you think about it, why do we play, for the love of the game, or for points?
-
Depends on who you ask (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/tongue.gif)
-
Don't ask me. I never scored a single "point" online, and I never minded.
-
Whatever you do...don't look at my record on PXO (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/nervous.gif) (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)
Anyway, why would it have to be an FS Frenzy? Why not do a mod frenzy? (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif)

What's most amusing is the people who actually hack the server and award themselves half a million points. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

Why not? How about this: A few weeks after the FS Frenzy @ VWatch, we hold a MOD Frenzy here?
-
How does this sound: March 9-10. FS1 Mods on the 9th, FS2 Mods on the 10th. If the admins agree and we can figure out the logistics, I'll go around and start p1mping like mad!
-
Better idea. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif) Figure out the logistics now and see if you can handle this (complete with RL workload and all), then post a date. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

Back in my naughtier days, i used to show up to ruin em!!! lol, id constantly spam wild wolf, (he used to work for planet fs, now vwatch) so hed have to go check his im, id set up fake servers and punt people, and dont get me started on the Spam Bots!!!
-
I hope you've changed since then (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif)

Orange put in the post that this is probably the last one (although I never explicitly stated it in my writeup on the \frenzy page) but if turnout is big we will consider another one, yes. Or, at least, I will. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

I already said in another thread that if there is interest, we will do it. We did this one because we thought it a good end to something grand. It was my assumption that people wouldn't be interested from now on. However, that appears not to be the case.
