Good job on that Mara in the foreground. Also, nice to see the SuperHoover in action. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/lol.gif)
Looks good. Make it a little larger and it'll be wallpaper bait. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif)

that mara does indeed look nice.
try motion blurring (a LITTLE bit) the moving ships and laser shots, and maybe give them a bit o glow.
The vacuum cleaner could do with being better lit as well...its a little dark (but then again im on a crappy uni workstation)

I like it a lot! It's very dark but Vasudan feeling. I like the lasers from the Serapis and the beam the most...I didn't even realize it was a Mara in the front until I looked again...good job with it though!
[EDIT] I don't mean to put down the Mara if it came across that way. I think it looks good, I just didn't realize that that was the Mara at first. I thought it was part of the Hatshepsut.

SuperHoover. You know: giant vacuum cleaner. The Hatshpesut. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/smile.gif) Its one of my three favorite Vasudan capships (my own pair being my other favorites (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/wink.gif))

Why is it a giant vacuum cleaner though?

Because it resembles and old style canister vacuum cleaner with a short hose and a stylized head agitator head.

For some reason it seemed a bit flimsy to me..I dunno why..all the new destroyers seemed too flimsy, to me. The Hecate and Hatshepsut didn't seem to have the same "flying invincible brick" quality of the Orion and Typhon. In fact, they seemed more like..plastic.
-
That's because the Orion and Typhon had a smaller surface area : volume ratio. Usually, when the SA : V ratio gets higher (as in, more SA per unit of V), things look, loosely described, 'cooler'. (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/v.gif) Did a great job on the Great War destroyers to make them look cool while retaining a relatively low SA : V ratio.
-
Can we have a corona on the beam source? And some lighting on the destroyer around it. Right now it looks a little 'pasted on.'
