Stright from the horses mouth, folks (http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index.php?category=2&id=41709) Personally, I'm glad that they have a planned end to the show, and won't let the network milk the **** outta it like SG1.

I would have wagered on a nice round 5 years... but then again they really need to end this show on its own terms. If no one was going to assure them that last year then its far better to do it this way.
Altho I'm sure the networks will try to milk it somehow.

Lol i think it will be good. Its a shame its only 4 seasons but, atleast its a good 4 seasons.
Galactica 2 ftw:P

There'll no doubt be a spin-off series!

O Rly? (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0799862/)

Seeing how season 3 ended, I'm glad they won't drag the conclusion out longer than necessary. I'd rather have one exciting season than 2 mediocre ones.

At least they're not doing what they did with the original BSG. That is recreating the horror that was Galactica 1980. (I haven't seen much of it, but I don't want to see anymore of it.) I'm also glad to see that it's ending on the writers' terms, rather than having SciFi pull the rug out from underneath their feet, like Farscape.
The spin-off is a little disturbing, but we'll see how it goes. It just seems that the core of what makes a Galactica series a Galacitca series is the fleet on the run from a vastly superior Cylon force. Whether you set the spinoff after the chase is over (as Galactica 1980) or before the chase begins (as seems to be the plan for Caprica), you really just yank out the soul of the show.
Anyway, I think the important point is this....

I've got 50-to-1 odds on all humans dying! Takin' all bets! Takin' all bets!

I think Eick, Moore, and the crew have the positively massive cajones necessary to take the series out with an apocalyptic ending. They won't wuss out at the end and give us some lame Star Trek idealism at the very end.

I don't think Total Annihilation and Apocalypse are one and the same.
After all, the original meaning of the word also meant; the time for the Final Judgement and Relevations came true.
So yeah, it's gona be an Apocalypse, but IMHO both human and Cylon alike will have to face some pretty harsh repercussions about their own percived justice and purpose in face of 'THE TRUTH'.
As Weiss and Hickman put it in the Deathgate cycle: The truth is something deep, immeasurable thing that shallows you up, and you can't even take it in witha single glance. If you only see a part of it and mistake it for the whole, your truth will be invariably flawed.
