Title: ntdll.dll FS2 Crash
Post by: Woggy on June 10, 2007, 06:39:02 am
I downloaded GameTap yesterday, and haven't been able to get it to run (GameTap crash (ntdll.dll+0x00001010)). I wasn't really that bothered about it at the time. Freespace 2 had also been crashing on me, so I reinstalled it using the FSOpen installer somewhere on these forums. I finally got hold of OpenAL and loaded the game. The settings were High Memory Features On; Audio set to Generic Software; Video: OpenGL 1024x768 Anisotropic Filtering off, 32-bit, trilinear. I was using the 3.6.9 build with mediavps.
It crashed with the standard windows error message telling me to submit a crash report to Microsoft. I loaded the debug version and opened errorlog.txt. Inside, I find this:
Code: [Select]
fs2_open_3_6_9 caused an Access Violation in module ntdll.dll at 001b:7c901010.
Exception handler called in FreeSpace 2 Main Thread.
Error occurred at 6/10/2007 12:17:56.
G:\Games\Freespace2\fs2_open_3_6_9.exe, run by Woggy.
2 processor(s), type 586.
2047 MBytes physical memory.
Read from location 00000034 caused an access violation.

The same .dll (ntdll.dll) file GameTap crashed because of. I don't really know how it's causing the crash but is there any way to fix it?  :(

EDIT: Oh hey, disabling file protection in NOD32 (or just shutting it down) fixes the problem. Thanks anyway.
