Just Stumbled accross this site with a bunch of really great images for detail modelling. Got a lot of Star Destroyer images (great for me) but also the imperial shuttle, Mon Cal Cruiser, The Escape Pod, Millenium Falcon, Snowspeeder, TIE Bomber, TIE Interceptor, X-Wing, and Y-Wing.
http://www.amazingstarships.com/models/starwars/starwarsreference.htm
Figured we could definitely use some of these
-
Heh, some of those models still kick computer-generated ass ;)
-
Yeah, I love how the Death Star Battle in the Special Edition of A New Hope didn't look as good as the original from 1977 with hand made models on wires
-
Kewl!! I have some pics at home, I'll have to check them... IIRC, they came from http://www.alderaanonline.com or somesuch.
-
Checked out that site but there's nothing there, just one of those random spam domains that got snapped up. If you could find those pictures it'd greatly help me out! I'm always looking for more reference images

(EDITED again, with FileFront mirror added)
If you don't have 7-zip, you'll need it: (I've heard the latest version of WinRAR works with .7z files, too.)

Thanks, I'll check those out tomorrow!

Not sure if the pics survived, though. :(
-
Doesn't look like they did.
-
Wow, that first one is great, I'm gonna use some of those for my pod model when I get back home, it might have actually inspired me to get back to work!
-
Heres my reference pic folder in case its any good to you guys, 110mb rar

Thanks, downloading now, I'll try to get it hosted on our space for devs as soon as I can.
-
We have a space for devs? hehe
-
jr2, that archive reports being invalid by 7zip and PowerArchiver. Just thought I'd let you know. Tried downloading it twice.
-
Erg. Stupid WebDAV. I'll re-up. Thx for notifying. Hmm...
EDIT: Here.

EDIT2: FileFront Mirror: http://files.filefront.com/Star+Wars7z/;8009675;;/fileinfo.html
That's the same file, it's checked ok, just the upload was corrupted, I guess. So I re-upped it.

Thanks a bunch!

Note how the cockpit as shown in the movie scenes I posted is the same:
I think that the above is the set they used in the movie production.
-
they don't look the same...
-
Ya they do; one is close-up, one isn't. :) Zoom in on the prop so that just the vid screen + a bit more is visible.
-
If you're referring to ANH43.jpg and the X-Wing_cockpit.jpg you just posted, they are different I believe. The latter has some buttons and guages not on the former, and the video screens are different aspects, not just from the squishing in the movie cap either, in fact the aspect is different in the wrong manner for that.
-
One is a photo of the entire cockpit, taken from outside - rear. The other is a pilot's eye view. When I get home, I'll demonstrate (I think!).
-
I'm just saying, I looked very closely at each dash, and most of the details don't seem to line up at all.
-
Hrm... I'll take a closer look... then again, mayhaps this is the difference between the newer version and the older version of the SW vids?
-
I'd believe that.
-
I'd believe that.
*sigh*
no consistency then?
when we get clear pics, i'll make a thread with a poll to see which one to do.

geometry and angle of the canopy doesn't fit
his is the correct geometry:
