Warlock fires its beams in this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o7faSiU2ztc

Not sure where that came from exactly but its a bit longer than the other one.  Shows a Vorchan is no match for the forward firepower of a Warlock!

Is it just me or do these Vorchans seem larger, meaner, and with more engines than the ones of old?  I know they have done lots of research into how the ships should look but it seems like the Vorchan got a serious upgrade.  Maybe it was necessary given how simple the original was.

Given the success and wide use if the "original" Vorchan, maybe Centauri made a bigger meaner version of it. Makes sense.

Also, why is the Warlock firing White beams?

i thought EA used red?

unless they're upgraded beams compaired to most? Either that or that trailer above is before  the movies had its final colours put inplace?

They may be trying to denote that the Warlocks main beams are more powerful than the Omega's.  Not sure.  Could just need a color filter on it too...

Prophet: Yeah thats a good possibility too.  May have to convince the team to build some new ships based on these new "episodes" if any modelers are still up to the task :)

IPA is really determined to get this thing off his hands. And not a lot of modders who still believe in B5... Well have to see if this Lost Tails reignites the fanbase. If we get new blood around here, who knows...

Well I've been pretty far away from TBP for a while now but Lost Tales seems to have brought me back.  I even re-downloaded all of the latest stuff...although some it is being troublesome in getting it to work.  But I see lots of things have been done since I last checked in.  The Warlock and Primus have textures and there are other ships too!

Let's hope others come back as well. And there's a realistic chance for that since this time there's more eye candy than just a hot redhead weapons officer. Not that the action in LotR didn't look good, it just wasn't interesting...

Yeah Legend of the Rangers was just not up to the rest of B5 I think.  Even Crusade was much more in tune...probably because they had just finished with B5.

i thought EA used red?

The color would be the result of the tech used. Remember, this is the first time we get to see the warlock firing and it is meant to be more advanced than the previous ships.

Yeah but the Warlock was thought to have the same particle beams as GODs had. Those were red...

Mostly coz they looked like the GOD's i guess, but who knows. I don't mind the new color.

The Warlock looks pretty spiffy but you can see one getting nailed by two Vorchans before one of those in turn gets beamed.

If I don't say anything else good about B5, I'll say this. Starfuries are still class.

i cant wait for it to come out
it did look like the centari were kind of dominating the Earth Force ships though

Centauri ships are supposed to be just a few down from the Minbari in some respects.  A Warlock is all well and good and it looks like they can put the hurt on but probably if they get a little overwhelmed like they did in that scene then it could be trouble.  Those Vorchans also look bigger and meaner than the ones we've seen before.  So probably some upgrades.  One of the B5 Centauri trilogy books suggested that the Centauri had some access, in a roundabout way, to some Drakh technology.  So theres a variety of things that could be at work.

Nice ships & explosions, but the beams always seem to look grainy in movies.

EDIT: Oh, I just dicovered that they are particle beams! ;)

Keep in mind that the original 3D models were unavailable for use, so the effects studio actually based their work off fan-made models.  That would probably explain a lot of the different nuances.  The station itself looks quite styled up.

That and back when they started B5 was rendered on a small network of Amiga computers running toaster.  Now they are either using Maya or Lightwave on very powerful server farms and they details can go up big time.  Which is great because B5 looks absolutely beautiful now!

It's pretty obvious that the shot isn't finished yet (or wasn't when the video was put into the net anyway), so I would suggest to wait untill arguing the colors of the weapon effects ;)
In that short vid, the ALL weapons are white, including those from the Vorchans, the Sentries and even the Starfurys.

Weapons which normally are pale yellow or pale blue. Considering the poor quality of the clip, you can't tell what color they really are.

I do however agree that the the effects likely aren't finals and might chance.

What I'm slightly concerned is that the EA tactics seem to be a complete mess. Instead of using formations to maximize the effectiveness of their interceptors when the superior long range firepower of the Warlock would surely be formidable, they seem to rely on brawling. I of course do not now the whole tactical situation or the events leading to it, but I hope the battles aren't all pretty carnage without tactics...

Hmm, depends how long that battles been raging. They may of started in formation, but when you enter combat, and each ship engages its own individual targets, you cant stay in formation, other wise youd have the entire formation fighting just one ship, and while there trying to shoot down that one ship, ther entire formation can be easily wiped out. Meaning once a fihgt starts out, you should maximise trhe amount of enemy vessels under attack to give your side the greatest chance of victory

JMS was very proud that they worte the scripts for the battles of B5 which included real tactics (voice commentary to "Signs and Portens") so I guess he will see to it that we will see a decent fight (with smart tactics) in TLT...

But anyway:
I of course do not now the whole tactical situation or the events leading to it

The battle scenes sure water my mouth, not so fond of the emphasis on telepaths again.

All the stuff with glowing eyes and visions ? Ok, it might be technomage trickery, but still.

I think he's somekind of extra special goddie turn baddie, and not your "normal" telepath. You see your average telepaths don't usually have burning eyes and don't levitate in burning rooms.

I'm getting some weird vibes from him though. And watching Sheridans reactions, I wonder... Maybe it's his son!
You now. Offspring of a magically resurrected human and a Minbari hybrid. Add a little keeper that pissed for being locked in a jar for 20 years. Some strange **** going on there. Could give me the glowy eyes too.

Not typically the hallmark of telepaths in the B5 universe.  Unless you've been modified by the Vorlons.  Looks more like a Technomage...not sure what the story is there.

Dude! They wear black robes and/or leather, have cybernetic implants and do and say freaky stuff. Who doesn't love them!

I liked Galen in Crusade... I wonder if he has changed much...

You know what was more awesome than Galen? The apocalypse box. That is just so... so... Twilight Zone JMS. I love it. Crusade would have really, really rocked. Given a chance like the original B5 was. Because let's face it, certain episodes of the first season of B5 weren't exactly spectacular. I'm thinking of the one with the guy as the alien (Ikaran? <sp>) war machine.

Infection was the first B5 Episode I ever saw.

I didn't watch again until season 3 as a result. Need I say any more? :)

Actually not all mages wear black robes.

And since they are cloistered away in the hiding place, more and more forwent the traditions (among them the robes and bald heads).

It is quite possible that man is a freaked out Technomage, who became insane from being stuck inside a miserable asteroid hideout.
Or something sinster and evil, having to do with either the Drakh, or the "other Vorlon mistakes" Lyta hinted at in the end of Third Space.
