Dawn of the Dead (1978)
It's the system shock 2 of movies.
-
Does this count?
Gravemind's intro in Halo 2...
"This. is. not. your grave ... but. you are welcome....in it"
\Arbiter struggling against Gravemind "Stop. I'd rather not piss this thing off..."
The best one though:
"This one is machine and nerve, and has its mind concluded. This one is but flesh and faith, and is the more deluded."

Bladerunner!!!!!
Best ever, there is some amazing cinematography in that film (Ridley Scott same as Aliens), with some of the best dialogue in the world!
"The candle that burns twice as bright burns half as long!"
-
Ridley Scott did the cinematography in Aliens? I didn't know that. I know James Cameron directs but if Ridley's in there too that's pretty cool. Aliens is in fact one of my favourite movies. It's a rare sci-fi movie that presents a gritty realistic view of the future, and it refuses to dumb down. Well the director's cut does anyway. They removed the automatic sentry guns from the cinema release so the "All we need now is a deck of cards" line from Hicks just made everyone go :wtf:

Tie between Stargate, Serenity, Children of Men and Equilibrium.
****. I'm a total geek, ain't I?
Oh, and Spartan: No, that doesn't count. That's a ****ing stupid choice. Choose another before I have to throttle you.
-
Jeez, Mefustae, that was really rude. Lay off.
But no, it doesn't count, spartan.

I beg your pardon, Ridley Scott directed Alien (the original) not Aliens (the sequel). Wiki link (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ridley_Scott). The better film IMHO.

I tend to think that comparing Alien and Aliens is rather pointless. Despite the same characters and universe they're actually quite different genres. It's like comparing Saw and Saving Private Ryan.
Besides people who like either movie should be complaining about how **** the 3rd and 4th film were instead.

Too many to list.

Ridley Scott did Alien.
James Cameron did Aliens.

To this day, my favorite movie would have to be Ghostbusters. Best comedy in the 80s by far IMO.
Ghostbusters 2 was horse****. EDIT: By comparison
-
Memento, Serenity, Schindler's List, and a live-action film directed by Hideaki Anno (Evangelion) that I saw recently called Shiki-Jitsu.
-
The Hunt For Red October or maybe Monthy Pythons search for the holy grail cant decide
/Dice

Fine, if I can't use a Halo 2 cinematic sequence, it'll have to be Serenity...
Dear Humanity, we regret being alien bastards, we regret coming to Earth, and we most certainly regret that the Corps just blew up our raggedy-ass fleet! Hoorah!

I actually didn't think Resurrection was that terrible, though. Certainly better than the third, at least.
-
Special Edition/Assembly Cut of Alien 3 is the best of the lot for me, can't really explain why.
Favourite film ever is Shaun of the Dead though Matrix would be up there if not for the crappiness of its sequels.
-
Hmmm.... this is one tricky question indeed... uhhh....
I have no ****ing idea. :p
I like too many movies to choose just one.
-
I'm surprised nobody has said Star Wars yet... It's at least in my top 10.
-
Starwars went downhill after the original trilogy. Or more like, fell off a cliff.

We are in disagreement. Resurrection should not be touched with a pole that is many feet in length.
I like Alien3 a lot. I never get why it's so disliked.

They killed off Newt, Hicks, and Bishop in Alien3, and before any of the action even took place. For that, it deserves to burn. Plus, incinerating Ripley rather than have some sort of epic struggle ala Aliens was just a disappointment. I mean, com'on, it's the freaking Xenomorph, not something you just drown in fire to kill.
Resurrection had the advantage of killing the Xenomorphs in the most awesome fashions (brains sucked out through airlocks, grenades in escape pods, and crashing the ship, turning it into a huge nuclear inferno of DEATH). For that, it trumps Alien3. Nevermind Ripley's odd character twist in Resurrection or the other chick's rather sub-par performance, Resurrection > 3.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
No movie before or since has narrated directly from my brain.

...and crashing the ship, turning it into a huge nuclear inferno of DEATH).
I never quite got the logic behind doing that. I mean, didn't they just destroy all life on Earth akin to the extinction of the Dinosaurs? Yeah, great ending.

Especially when you consider that Ripley blew up the Alien Queen's ovipositor back in the alien nest. So how the **** did the facehuggers even get onto the Suloco? Surely Ripley would have noticed if she'd come up the lift with an egg under each arm?
Then lets further ignore that Alien eggs do not hatch unless in close proximity to prey (Space Jockey's ship, the fact that the eggs in the nest didn't open except when Ripley was close to them, the fact that there weren't facehuggers running around the alien nest in search of prey even when the marines went in there) and as such would be unlikely to have hatched on the Suluco even if the Queen had managed to carry them in and hide them on the dropship without anyone noticing or even ****ing thinking to check!

Yeah but the newborn was pretty ****. IF you can get over the stupidity of Ripley being a clone then the movie is pretty good right up until the last 20 minutes. They should have had a showdown with the queen again instead.
