Ya, a vasudan missile corvete...This model has been lying around my HDD so I decided to texture it properly and turn it into a real warship.
Thing is I'm messing around with the placement of missile launchers - the turreed ones and hte fied ones (provided I get those tracking anti-cap missiles working)

Wow I've been looking for something like this.

Looks good, but not very Vasudan-ish, I could see it as a joint endeavor using a Vasudan ship with Terran weaponry... Plus you're using the Deimos textures for the lights...

Funny...I allways though the Deimos light texture looked very vasudanish... :lol:

(And in the GTVA most ships are a joint effort anyway..)

I think the missiles should be facing to the sides... just my opinion though.

the top fixed missile launchers - front ones should face front, middle side, aft should face rear

HM... I can add another par at the end to face ther rear...

but you might be right about the 2nd and 3rd one...maby it's best they face to the sides.

Since I havn't used or tried those tracking missiles (like ballisitc ones that can launch from pretty much any angle relative to the target and then just turn around) I have to ask - how good do they work? Any bugs with that? Do they hit the ship that launches them?

Which reminds me, I gotta go search for the tbl code for them...

Actually I just need one for use as a hero's ship, and mount two Mjolnir cannons on it. Instant artillery platform, just needs more defensive turrets. xD

(TBH I'm not even sure as to what you're looking for, but sorry I can't help either way. If my old hard disk was still working fine I'd probably have what you were looking for; download habit - just get it, you might never get it again. True enough with Mekhu and the Losna, I was lucky there.)

Does ANYONE recall that bit with tracking missiles that can fire regardless of the turrets facing relative to the target?

The red dots are turrets. Also, it's symmetrical.

EDIT: woops, I forgot one. It's in the veiw at the top left, on the light tan wing.

Give the turrets a wide (something like 270+ angle) FOV, then adjust the free flight time for your missiles to about 1 second or so.

'VLS' (vertical launch system) missiles are doable and actually quite easy to do.. (by vertical i mean fires like the modern aegis cruisers)

IIRC
i) Either make singlepart 'swarm 1' missiles and in use and/or use the "fire down normals" turret flag (cant remember if it works properly atm). Multiparts start firing like singlepart but keep turning towards the target as well.
ii) Set turret FOV very large
iii) Set missiles to have 'aspect seeker' or 'heat seeker' with very large homing cone. Set free flight time according your missiles velocity (ie. how it works in the game)

@TheSizzler - are you turret placement proposals for missile turrets or standard ones?

EDIT - you think I should make the command tower a bit higer? Or add another lvl to it...but smooth it out finely at the top?

Of course...with all those missiles it will have only light defences and armor...but it will be a long-range bombardment nighmare! ;7

Cool, but where are the conventional beam cannons? Those look like flak turrets or ballistic ammo guns maybe.

Oh, that anti-fighter gun was a side project..it's terran looking anyway so I won't put it on this ship....
Do the green plasma-like barrels or normal mass-driver like look better?

This ship will have 1..maby 2 very weak beam cannons and some lighter defensive turrets.

Allright I need elp with getting the friggin missiles to work..I basicly want missiles that act like the missiles fired from subs or modern cruisers...you shoot them to your felt, after a while tehy turn around and head for hte target..

Turret launched spawning missiles (bus missiles) use IIRC hard coded system which practically makes them fly without homing onto the target until it explodes.. Same thing as seen in FS with shivan clusters etc. But if you want to try using those then try using the new "inherit parent target" flag (unstable branch only).

But what i meant is something like this:

I'm tapping into an unknown area for me here (here...there has to be a first sometime :D )

I strated with the premise that you can't make a missile that fires wherever the turret is facing and then turns - as a single peace. So I figured the inital stage is one missle, and the tracking one is it's spawn.

I THINK I understand now, but just be on the safe side, if somone can post here the whole code (including submunition) for such a missile, without trying to apply it to my missile (as in - a code of a missile like that that's allready been made).

ATM I'm a little confused... :wtf:

Did i ever mention that the different stages of the missile would actually be separate missiles? No



Missiles fly at (launching ship velocity + 1/4 of their listed velocity) during the 'free flight' which by default lasts 0.25 seconds. Now with SCP you can use '$Free Flight Time:' to set this value into something else. So missiles start to fly at their listed velocity and home only after that time after their launch has passed. So if you use swarm type missiles (firing swarm of 1 missile) it launches these directly along the firepoints normal (or used to do so - hence the new flag thing). So using swarm missiles with free flight setting allows you to make missiles that fly directly away from the launcher then a moment later they start to home on to the target. Totally without any submunitions. You can make it with spawn type missiles too - sort of - but then you will not be able to 'pass on the target info'

Submunitions & turrets do not work properly (ATM).

Trash,

   Keep that gun!!! If you can make a slimmer one that fits on the back of a Hammerhead fighter, and also one for the front that only has one gun cluster instead of two that would be great!! I'll send you the old low poly fighter with the FIREHAWK you wanted this weekend sometime...

The barrels don't have to rotate, but nuke mod has spoiled me lol.

 A thought, maybe you just need the stumps with a firepoint and the mod will "add" the barrels in for me? Every test model Iadded using a default weapon from Nukemod had rotating barrels on the fire points... I may be onto something cheap and easy, guess it's related to the show weapon flag? I dunno 3.6.9 modding  is still new to me...

Meh if you can give me the turrets in the old fashioned way please.  :)

Oh.. forgot to mention but at least earlier any turret launched spawn type weapon would fire exclusively on the original turret normal. So even multi part turrets fired spawn type missiles along their 'original' normal instead of 'barrel normal'. And those missiles refused to home and flew only at their free flight speed.

I thought it was the F3 button... atleast at mine.

Truespace 5.1...and usually I mix it up with 3D Max 7.0, but it wasn't necessary for this one.
