It was just released like, yesterday. Check it out at http://www.insmod.net/ (http://www.insmod.net/). It's supposed to be uber-real compared to all the other 'realistic' modern infantry combat sims out there now.

Let's see here....
Ok the mod itself looks nice. I'm just waiting for the fact that you can fight as an insurgent and kill US troops to strike a nerve somewhere.

Locked unless something comes of it...

Personally, I find it rather refreshing to have see an impartial take on the subject. Rather than just having bland, faceless "terrorists", they've taken the bolder - and riskier, as you say - route in providing a proper enemy with a face and just motivation to match.
Were I not capped, i'd surely download this.

As far as playing as a terrorist, both BF2 and Counter-Strike have both had playing as the bad guys, this game just puts it in a more realistic setting, much like Kuma/War.

So not what I meant.

I was more replying to Swantz.

Oh, I don't object, I just think someone probably will. :p

No, I got that. It'd take a simpleton unlike any we've ever seen on HLP to take serious offense to a mod like this. :)

The game looks interesting, but my internet is too slow to properly play multi (which really sucks because I got a Quake Wars beta key too! :( ). Maybe when I get to college I'll check it out.
EDIT: From the trailers it seems like just another realistic Middle East mod. Yea it has an actual conflict, I'm just tired of running through yet another desert town with my M16/AK47. It does seem really professional though, here's a good trailer:

It may be another Middle East themed FPS, but it was made to be the mother of all Middle East FPS games. I think they pulled it off too, or will with more effort.

Since it's super realistic or whatever, do you fall if you get shot in the leg or bleed out to death if shot in the stomach, or is it basically counter-strike?
-
well I haven't played enough to notice legshots, but there are band-aids, a la Firearms, so I'm assuming you could bleed out and die from quite a few wounds if left untreated. It's definitely surpassed Counter-Strike.
-
It's fairly realistic, except for ballistics and the damage model. You're not a god, so you can't carry every weapon known to man, it's squad-based play, etc... I've been playing since it came out as "Admiral Bosch."
