A little project that Aardwolf (I think it was Aardwolf anyway) was working on: a Turn-Based Strategy game based on FS. It worked... I have the latest version he released for testing, but I believe the project died.

I also cannot find the thread in which he discussed it... probably buried on the site somewhere... and of course the ****ed search function can't find it.

EDIT: Woo! Go me! I found it: here (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,42596.0.html).

You called?

Edit: maybe I should say something more than just "You called?"...

Although I did frequently refer to my program as the FS TBSG, it isn't as though it had any officiality to it.

I haven't touched it since maybe the beginning of 2007, when I started using C++ instead of Java. It did, however, work pretty well. The main thing I was having trouble with was balance. Either the fighters were too weak or too powerful, or the capital ships, or some other stuff like that.

To run it, you'll obviously need Java. Once it's installed, either you can run the EXE with the Deimos icon, or if your computer is set up right, you can run the JAR file. Some computers are just stubborn, though, and no matter how hard you try you won't be able to get it to work.

I can't build ships! Sry for being a noob but in the manual it says
Quote
To perform this action, select an empty tile immediately neighboring the planet.

I can drag the little red hexagon and make it a green one, but nothing happens!

EDIT: Fixed, for some reason clicking space had no effect, now it does.

Drag the hexagon onto a surrounding space (This isn't just for building, it is for attacking, moving etc.) and let go. if the hexagon turns green, press the spacebar.

ah. Thanks.

BTW, whats the point of support ships and cargo ships and such? they can't attack(as far as i know), and you can't do anything else with them...so what?

It's been a long time since I've done anything with it.

The gas miner and awacs are useless (unless i resume work on it) and the support ship is barely any good. It can be loaded with weaponry using a city action, and then it can resupply fighters and bombers with missiles or bombs. However, it is easier to do this with capital ships, and doesn't cost any resources. (All of this is "IIRC" information). Freighters are also mostly useless. You can move resources from one planet to another with them though.

Vasudan and Shivan would have come later in my development of the game.
