Whenever I play a mission with the Iceni, it appears as a Ulysses without shields. I run a scan of it and it says
NTF Iceni
GTF Ulysses
in the target window. I checked in the VP files and it says the the Iceni POF is still there. Not to mention that I didn't have this problem when I played the campaign the first time! Why the heck is it doing this?
(Oh yeah, I forgot. This means the Iceni is destroyed in about thirty seconds in the first SOC mission (http://dynamic.gamespy.com/~freespace/ubb/noncgi/biggrin.gif))

Sounds like you may have a ships.tbl file somwhere in the fs2 directories. Without the iceni in it. Have a check...

I forgot one thing though.
It gives me an error message that says that something is wrong in the sexpression, which means it's a FRED thing. And how come this wouldn't have happened the other times I've played the campaign?

If you have placed a ships.tbl file then the sexp looks for a ship of that class, if it cant find it then *boom* la error...
It hasn't happened as you haven't had a ships.tbl there in the directories before.
If you have one in the directories it overrides the one in the VP files...

ok, the matter of the Iceni has been gone over many a time by the Fred2 community:
In "Touch of Fate", by Cetanu, the Iceni will sometimes appear as a Ulysses without shields. Its a bug that has plagued us and isnt necesarily a mod. The Iceni also isnt the only ship that does this, other capital ships have been known to do it from time to time, so dont be surprised next time you see a ulysses titled "NTF Iceni"

It's not just touch with fate though, it's any mission where the Iceni appears...I'll try what you guys said to do

Actually that Ulysses bug has nothing to do with the Iceni at all in multiplayer missions
I'm playing a lot on PXO and over time it happened in ALL missions with captial ships, that anything bigger then a fighter/bomber randomly arrived as Ulysses instead of the standard ship - usually at least 1/2 of the client pilots crash to desktop when that happens
This Ulysses error in multiplayer could be a lag problem - never noticed that annoying bug when all players had a good connection to the host.

Did you install Derelict? It removes the Iceni and adds the Saphah (which is very similar). The SEXP expression error is caused because its looking for a subsystem (probably a turret) that doesn't have the same value (a Terran turret can't utilize fire-beam).
Capital ships do not disappear by themselves. There is an answer for nearly every bug in FreeSpace. Mysterious occurances are limited to "Planet" and the one where your ship gets named something (I forget).

Check the targeted fighter, and then check the name of it and the sheild status. (ignore tha bus next to it)

What tables are you running? If you open the mission in FRED, you should get a warning that some ships could not be found. (the ulysses is the default).

I actually thought that the ship was suppose to look like a Ussyles(spelling wrong i know), never found out until later.

No tables here, all deleted cuz I play multi. And if you had any tables you would always get the msg "*nickname* has hacked data/tables". However I don't know what the host has in there (if he has something) cuz I wasnt the host of that mission.

I have actually never seen this happen before except when someone was using modified tables (even modified models work fine); is it just some weird multiplayer bug that has come up only recently?
The Dedun in that mission is supposed to be an Aten cruiser though, so I guess it is not limited to the Iceni.

k, I fixed it by reinstalling FreeSpace :eek: ! But I saved my pilots beforehand so it was ok...and the Iceni reappeared! Hooray! And yes, I had Derelict installed, which might have been part of my problem. Thank you, Icefire, for pointing that out. I haven't checked to see if that is still in the directory or not, but I think it is...and the Iceni is still there!

Snipes: Dammit pilots we lost the Iceni because Bosch accidentally turned it into a Ulysses and forgot to put the shields on it. Well, I guess we know what the ETAK project is now! It turns modern corvettes into Great War era fighters - without shields! Return to base, or better yet go home because the NTF rebellion is all over, because our stupid leader got too doped up on his own beer and screwed up his command ship.
