Title: The Babylon Project is done
Post by: IPAndrews on July 11, 2007, 08:49:48 am
May I thank Hard Light Productions for their continued hosting, support, and putting up with me for so long. May I thank the Source Code Project team for giving us such a fantastic game engine to work with. You've all been great. Well most of you :P.

\/\/00t! Congrats IPAndrews, although if you haven't already, get another file host, because everytime i go to download TBP, it says that you are out of bandwidth.

EDIT: \/\/00t2! Mydatabus works, but Star Game doesn't and as you probably know downloads.hard-light.net doesn't either. Does anyone know why downloads.hard-light.net doesn't work? From what I've heard it was a bandwidth problem, am I correct?

Oh, and is 3.3a the final release?

At this point in time I have no idea who to use for hosting.

Congratulations IP. I've been watching and playing from way back into when Icefire was the project lead but for the last few big steps you seem to have taken it along by the scruff of it's neck alone.

Hats off to your work ethic and thanks.

I shall pretend, for the sake of all our sanities, and preventing IPAndrews from banging his head on the desk repeatedly, that you meant where can you download it? ;)

http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,43703.0.html

You can download it here.

Edit: Oh, and congrats IP, sometimes it's good to know when you are 'done'. It's usually the point at which you feel you could be doing other things. Thanks for providing a large part of the fan-awareness of FS2, it was the B5 Mod that bought me back to HLP after a couple of years away from Freespace entirely, and even though I played the Earth-Minbari war, and died repeatedly in various horrible ways, it was still great fun, even back then :)

Congrats IP Andrews.  You've completed a long and sometimes tortured journey. We've seen The Babylon Project become its own phenomenon and I think that it will live on in user made campaigns.  Congratulations once again!

I suppose you could torrent it. Put it on one of the big trackers and leave the computer on for a few days seeding, after that it should have a life of its own. It's not a pretty solution, but it would at least get it out there - That's how I got the BtRL demo. And I for one wouldn't mind leaving my own computer running overnight for a week or so to help seed the thing once I acquired it.

Quote
when

Obviously as soon as it's uploaded to somewhere. Thus, "when" in this case is essentially the same as "where", since as soon as you're given a DL link you can download it.

Congratulations IPAndrews and the rest of the crew, you've really done a commendable job out there !
I too, have more or less tagged along since the first day/year. It sure has been one heck of a ride, but I also believe that the project will live on through ever-so-loyal B5 fan community...

Salutes !

FileFront will work, if nothing else.  Then I can get a torrent going.

Have lives.
You aren't fooling anyone.  Be serious.   :p

Really, you deserve a good long break.  Real life keeps me busy enough.  I don't see how you and the other modders managed to scrounge up enough time to put projects together, let alone something as slick and professional as TBP.  Kudos to you.

I would hate to steal Just Another Day III's limelight.  :)

Seeing as there's always 4 highlights, JAD3 would still be up there if TBP went there too. :p

'Sides, there hasn't been a new highlight in over a month. This community isn't that dead is it?

And TBP could use the extra publicity to try and catch up with BtRL.  :P

Well the FTP seems to be down at the moment. Preventing me from updating the main pages or uploading the fancy highlight icon I just made.

If you want me to change the text in the highlight post (as what I put there is rather stale and unoriginal) please post it here. :)

How do I change the destination folder? Because I click on the installer.exe and it says preparing to install, and then it gives me an error telling me that I don't have enough disk space, without letting me say where I want to put it.
