I'm just playing around. Can't a Star Wars fan drool over what he reckons is a cool cruiser with excellent strategic/tactical capabilities while he waits patiently to be able to buzz the tower in a TIE fighter?

2600ish in the main body, another 2500 for the trench greebles on each side, and 1500ish for the first tier greebles

sorry for the lack of updates guys

i gotta type up a paper, study for my final, and draw a really awesome picture.

class ends wednesday.

after that, on the next monday i'm going to the beach for a week, so i'll be gone then too.
i might take my laptop so i can model a bit at night.

Ok, stop quoting a previous statement about how good it looks please.  It's been an issue on other forums like this where all a model will get is bland applause, and while I don't mind a little bit here, quoting it over and over is a bit annoying.  At least keep your acclaim fresh :P

And it's even better to post criticism along with those congrats.  Like, I wish Turambar hadn't been gone for a week so this would be done already :)

Just a stupid question, will you put detail on the hangar deck within the box detail ?

And how about landing a Tie in his Hangar without having collision issue or something similar ? :p

turrets and detailed hangarbay are next.

for proper landings, the only thing i can think of is a 'hangar mode' with roll disabled, ship being forced to match the velocity of the bigger ship, and extremely lowered speeds.

Does the hangar scale fit/could dock with the corellian corvett class ? (refering to Episode 4 when the Tantive 4 were docked to one of the ISD).

the interdictor is a good 1000 meters shorter than the ISD, so I don't think a corvette would fit.

the Immobilizer-418 Interdictor Cruiser is 600 meters long, and does not have a hangar bay big enough to fit a corvette in.

Interdicter Cruisers look a heck of a lot like modded ISDs... or is it the other way around?  Or are they both modded off of another type of ship?

I think all Imperial capital ships share the same triangle design. I guess it just works for them. I have no idea which came first, though.

anyways
the Interdictor is a modded version of the Vindicator cruiser, which is a 600 meter long triangular warship
the Imperator Star Destroyer is a 1600 meter long triangular warship, not based on the Vindicator at all.

the difference in the lengths of these 2 ships is 1 kilometer.  thats a big difference, especially when comparing hangar space.


and i think the Vindicator is an older design.

About your screen, Have you modified the FOV ? Because when I was converting Warlords model with correct size for each ships, I had the impression that the ISD was still a little to tiny compare to the ISD in X Wing Alliance and Star Wars Battlefront 2.

Or perhaps, my X wing went too fast :/

I don't know if you had downloaded the Star Wars Warlords conversion for Freespace SCP ^^ and try some of those missions. If chief1983 has sent the link to the mods ^^.

the ISD will be big enough to have a corvette in its hangar bay. all of the sizes and speeds will be painfully accurate, so dont worry about that.  the only warlords stuff i have is the old models (dreadnaught and i think the neb B are warlords models). we are using those as placeholders until we can replace them all with original models.

also, i'm not the ISD guy, that's brand-x so ISD related questions are technically his.

I hope we could be amazed by the size of those ISD without to be at 50 meters from it.

I always wanted to see a corvette in a ISD hanger. But the games denied me of this sight  :sigh:

It was funny when I saw a corvette try to go into an ISD hanger in the TG games. At the time I was using modified models, so the corvette couldn't enter the hanger properly and went straight through the ISD.

I'm sure the captain of that ISD was pretty pissed. Not to mention I couldn't complete the objective if it could not enter hanger.

Btw, how will the friend/foe color scheme work here? Will red remain for Imperials always? Or will it just use the FS friend/foe color scheme?

the real size of the ISD is 1.6 Km long not 2 Km not less than 1.6 Km.

i just made a few new (alpha blended!) effects and colored em different for the moment.
a more extensive makeover will be in order for later

I could send you the laser I had from DaBrain ? IIRC, he gave me a rebel laser. With Photoshop I modify the colour to fit for Imperial Laser and Ion cannon.

Just to clarify a few interdictor related things:

An interdictor is a type of capital ship, not one particular class.  The common one is the Immobilizer, which is Turambar's current project.  There are also Imperial Star Destroyers that have been fitted with grav well projectors, making them an interdictor type vessel, and if that was your idea of what an interdictor was, it would explain the confusion.  However, the immobilizer is a 600 m long vessel, as previously stated, much smaller, and also not the base for the ISD.  The triangular shape is shared, but not much else about it.  Check out the Interdictor article on the wookieepedia for more info on that type of ship.
