I just finished the FS2 campaign and launched homesick.
I think it's well done and I'm only on the second real mission.
MY problem is that I am in Vega, Beta wing is marked as dead and Alpha 3 keeps talking to himself. Anyone got a solution? Is Alpha 3 so crazy about Beta 4's seth that he's gone mad? Can pizza be eaten in the same meal as pies?
-
I had a similar problem. I think it was on one of the convoy escort missions in the beginning, I'd get in and Beta WING would all be dead. Then they'd carry on one-person conversations the whole escort run.
-
i think it happens if you order them to depart in the previous mission. not entirely certain though
-
I didn't
I headed to the node and jumped out withotu touching the comm.

NEW PROBLEM:
I'm on the level after they find out Iota wing is evil. It keeps crashing the game when I accept the mission.

You and wildrosewolf seem to be having nothing but problems with FSSCP. As for your new problem I seem to recall reading that Homesick was created for FS2 retail. try running it that way.

no, don't do that. That's no fun.
Here's what you do to fix the problem. It's a bug with the way FS Open 3.6.9 handles the "Red Alert" tag on missions. Hopefully it'll be fixed in 3.6.10. Anyway, get a program called "VPView." Run Turey's installer, and only download the tools and utilities instead of the whole game. VPView is included in that. Next, (and you'll have to do this on A LOT of missions) use VPView to open the homesick.vp file and extract the missions that give you this trouble. Place the extracted mission file in Games/freespace 2/data/missions. Next, open them with either notepad (changing Red Alert from 1 to 0) or FRED2 Open (and go to editors>mission specs and unchecking the Red Alert box). That'll solve that problem. Remember to repick your ship and loadout for these missions, as it will no longer carry over.
Also, some Red Alert missions will load fine, but sometimes ships that are important will have all subsystems destroyed at the very beginning. Watch out for this, too. And if you ever get a mission where, after you've removed the Red Alert tag, it crashes during the briefing (it will most likely happen), load the mission in FRED again and go to Editors>Briefing and just delete stage 1 of the briefing, and it should work fine.

I had a problem when I was running retail where in red alert mission, deceased wingmen from previous missions would appear at 0% hull strength in the second mission.

dang, no offense to the creator but homesick has so many glitches...thankfully a few will be fixed in 3.9.10.

It's. Three. Point. Six. Point. Nine.
-
isn't that the current version of scp?
-
Yes... the next version will be 3.6.10, and possibly the next after that will be 3.6.11, before it finally switches to 3.7.0

Freaking A. When did SCP jump to 3.9.10? =p

lol
It's not the fault of Homesick's creator (BR IIRC). All the bugs I ever encountered in it were caused by FSO, not by mission design. The red alert thing is an FSO bug. And the workaround tends to create a briefing bug, which is also not the fault of the campaign designer.

point. ()

Isn't that basically what I said? :wtf:
-
Yes, but apparently some people missed it the first time around. So I said it again.
-
Eh, good point.
I've actually said it at least three times, yet no one listens. :blah:

It is like talking to a 1 year old.Pointless.

Why do you have two threads for problems with the same mod? See my post in you FS2 Modding thread for my answer to you mister... :mad2:

Homesick also generates a couple crashes in non-red alert missions as well. Chances are that once 3.6.10 is out, it will need a look at to ensure compatiblity with the latest SCP versions. However, fixing the red alert issue in 3.6.9 will go a long way toward correcting the overall issues.

isn't it slated for the CRP?
