Hi i just got freespace 2 off the internet and FS2_open will not open it displays a message about 3 second atfer that picture shows up the message is FS2_open has encountered a problem and must close
-
could you be a bit more specific ? From where did you download the game and which FS open are you using?
-
Like i said i'm new so i don't know which website i got freespace 2 from but the FS open that i found was in freespace/freespace2 where the documentation is the FS open is called fs2_open_3_6_5.exe

The only thing I can advise right now is downloading the new 3.6.9 builds at this page (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,44291.0.html), and start the game through the launcher included in the RAR.
Someone familiar with Turey's installer should be able to link you to it, all you need is a stable internet connection and it'll download everything that's needed to update your install (including the builds I mentioned).
:welcome:

he's probably not using the launcher
-
I used 3.6.6 cause 3.6.5 was super buggy for me and I finally got my mods to run with the former. Even without the launcher...
But of course everyone SHOULD get the latest greatest build to stay current...
-
use Turey's installer (http://www.fsoinstaller.com/files/installer/FreeSpaceOpenInstaller.zip) (.jar version (http://www.fsoinstaller.com/files/installer/java/FreeSpaceOpenInstaller.jar)) to update/install any mods or FSO files you need
-
whats and how do you use the launcher.
-
turey's installer installs all the files you need for FSO. I'm suggesting it because he...

wanted someone too.

sorry guy but it do not work thanks for your help but one last question what does the FS2_open do i read somewhere that it's important but it didn't say what it did. thanks
-
FSO is the modified Freespace Source code - a vastly improved game code.
But you need all the other files that go with it to experience the wensomness that is Freespace SCP - like high-detailed ships, textures, backgrounds and effects.
The Luncher itself sets up the game with parameters you can adjust (like checkboxes) for optimal preformace. You can turn on/off many features and play various custom-made campaigns easily.

oh, i miss out on that well thanks anyway for your time.
