The only thing I can advise right now is downloading the new 3.6.9 builds at this page (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,44291.0.html), and start the game through the launcher included in the RAR.

Someone familiar with Turey's installer should be able to link you to it, all you need is a stable internet connection and it'll download everything that's needed to update your install (including the builds I mentioned).

:welcome:

I used 3.6.6 cause 3.6.5 was super buggy for me and I finally got my mods to run with the former. Even without the launcher...

But of course everyone SHOULD get the latest greatest build to stay current...

use Turey's installer (http://www.fsoinstaller.com/files/installer/FreeSpaceOpenInstaller.zip) (.jar version (http://www.fsoinstaller.com/files/installer/java/FreeSpaceOpenInstaller.jar)) to update/install any mods or FSO files you need

turey's installer installs all the files you need for FSO. I'm suggesting it because he...

FSO is the modified Freespace Source code - a vastly improved game code.
But you need all the other files that go with it to experience the wensomness that is Freespace SCP - like high-detailed ships, textures, backgrounds and effects.

The Luncher itself sets up the game with parameters you can adjust (like checkboxes) for optimal preformace. You can turn on/off many features and play various custom-made campaigns easily.
