For those who are 40k fans, bad news:
http://games.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/07/11/1536240
Why do people insist in doing stupid things like this? GW had only to gain from it and they go and shut it down.

GW are Fickle./...................
Tau ftw ........... :nervous:

Well, working for GW for 3 years, I was privy to ALOT of inside info and this kind of action does'nt surprise me. To tell you the truth, I'm actually stilll surprised the company is afloat. But anyway, they're probably afraid the guys will make money out of it, or they want money out of it, and do not wish for it to be released. Yes they're VERY fickle, arrogant and have a lot to learn about marketing.

Most of what I heard of GW is that they're awfull, even with their own fans, so there's truth in that?

I used to be a Warhammer player a good few years ago, I remember some of their stunts, like changing their models for plastics, and then slowly creeping the price up until you were paying the same as you used to for the metal, and I won't even mention the cost of paint, when you can get stuff that is better quality for half the price.
I was mostly into painting the models more than playing the game, but I did play my brother occasionally. The cost of a 3000 point Orc and Goblin army is horrendous. We ended up changing to a different gaming system, simply so we could afford to do larger battles.
-
Well, now with GW new Apocalypse expansion, you will need AT LEAST 3000 pts worth of miniatures to play a 40k game. And there was a recent price hike again, now with new Baneblade coming out, you must BUY MORE! Or you cant play. And so and so forth. One of the MANY reasons why I quit the company.

Same here, they always seemed a little too greedy.
-
Basically, they're doing very poorly. I remember at the business conference in the UK we were at, I saw many of the business models and graphs they had, and even though they said thiigs would work and pan out as they expected... Nope. They ARE greedy, but only because they're doing badly. Cause they PISSED all they're money away. Thats all I can really say...

I thought they were talking about Game Warden for a second there...
Need to stop using acronyms.

Its alright. The pc games were better. But ever since they killed Clan Ghost Bear, I kinda loot interest.

What are you talking about? :wtf: The Ghost Bear Dominion is right there.
-
Well yes, but its now called the Rasalhague Dominion... Doesen't have quite the same ring to it, and the basically it was neutered.
-
Play CBT/Battleforce 2 then.
Games Workshop has a less-than-sterling rep regarding their IP and fanworks. Then again, their fanworks tend to be kind of...blah. I can't recall ever reading 40k fiction that had even a dim spark of genius, then again, I haven't read any of the official stuff, and it had taken over three shelves at Borders when I checked yesterday.

The biggest problem with GW is their pricing. They charge rediculous amounts for such small models, and they get away with it. The thing is, there is no competition for pricing on these models, so they can sell them for whatever they want.
Ofcourse, there's always Ebay.
Oh and between you and me, the guys who work at GW stores get 50% off everything, so they usually buy stuff, jump on ebay, then sell it at a slightly higher price they got it, but slightly less then GW.
Downright devious.
GW doesn't mean Games Workshop.
GW means Greedy Weasels.
