I own the game, but don't have internet at home. If I wanted to, could I use the open online installer to install the game in its entirety, then just copy/paste the folder to DVD, bring it home, drop of on my computer, and play?
-
Ofcourse. Download turey's installer, put it onto a CD, then you can just take it home, unload it all onto your PC, and install. I don't see any problems there.

Cool. Any idea (ballpark) on how long it takes to download from T1? (1.5mb down, average). I only selected everything up until Derelect.

don't do it. instead copy fs2 retail on a CD then download scp instaler that just instale the scp. put that on the other computer.
(I hope that makes sense to you)

Do what you were going to do. Downloading FS2 retail is a complete waste of time if you've already got the launcher. If you already HAVE Fs2 retail however you don't need to download the retail files. You can do a standard FS2 install and then install the rest off a DVD. That would save you about a gigabyte worth of downloading.
The only thing you must remember to do is to download OpenAL as well. You'll almost certainly need it.

he wants to install fs2 on a computer with no internet. I thought that was the only way to do it. I thought that you could copy-past the retail but not scp.
-
Nope. You can copy paste both. The launcher (either one) will set up all the registry entries you need to play the game. I know, cause I've done it before on my LAN at home. I simply copied my FS2 folder, ran the OpenAL installer and then ran the SCP launcher. Worked perfectly well.
