After the Shadow and Civil War storyline in the series, I stopped following B5. What is the appeal? There is virtually no storyline anymore. Season 5 seemed slapped on.

That's because it was slapped on. Season 1-4 was supposed to last 5 seasons. They had to rush it because they didn't know if they would get a 5th season. Frankly I blame the network dicking around with it.

Yeazh. like Stargate SG-1 should have ended with Season 8. Threads was the best ending for a series I have ever seen. But greedy network execs wanted more $$!!!

**** that, I liked seasons 9 & 10. Plus, if it ended at Season 8, we wouldn't have the upcoming DTV Movies 'Ark of Truth' and 'Continuum', or the possibility of an ongoing series of DTV movies!

there is more to B5, namely the Drakh and there underhanded manipulations of the new ISA.

Is it direct-to-TV or direct-to-DVD??
I would think tht Direct to DVD would be more profitable.
100% of SG-1 Fans watch tv shows anyway. Each movie would give the same ad profit as a TV show.

It's DVD, but the term is interchangable as the 'V' in 'DTV' doesn't necessarily refer to VHS Cassettes. Anyway, it can be determined that the sales for the DVDs will be notably higher than the viewership of the series given how many people download, TiVo or otherwise view the series in a manner not taken into account when determining neilson ratings.

So, what's the basic plot of this B5 movie?

Yeazh. like Stargate SG-1 should have ended with Season 8.

Stargate SG-1 should have ended with season four. Friends should have ended with season... er... um... 4 years earlier. Star Trek: Enterprise should have been nuked off of the surface of the earth during the pilot.
:beamz:

This is been a Geeky Service Announcement.  :warp:

Its different because the two parts are fairly short...just long enough to be enjoyable.  The second one with Sheridan was the better of the two parts I think.  It was really nice to get back to the whole B5 thing...you can tell this is sort of a limited production sort of thing with allot of love and some really fantastic CGI work.  It was very enjoyable and I'm hoping that it will lead to some more of these sort of episode releases...certainly some room for improvement but lots of fun!

Well, not necessarily as JMS says on several occasions he wanted a definte "aftermath of the shadow war" though you're correct regarding the doubt regarding getting S5.

I'm against more B5 personally. They got the 5 year loop. Let it be. Watch BSG instead!

always want more B5, there is nothing they can do to screw it up for me, just so much of a sci fi person, that i dont nitpick or even bother noticing bugs n stuff.

The EA Civil war was meant to be most of that aftermath. JMS quite clearly stated that his original plan was to end the 4th series with Intersections in Real Time.

the series certainly lost some momentum after S4

That goes without saying. It did pick up a fair bit again by the last episodes though. While never as good as the end of Season 4 it was definitely worth watching.

The funny thing is that season 4 was excellent because there were no filler episodes, since he had to finish the story (since season 5 seemed to not be happening at the time). If JMS knew for sure that he would have a 5th season, season 4 might have ended up with boring filler episodes to drag out the shadow war as long as possible.
