Now that we've gotten the spam out of our systems, carry on... (I don't have any shots on this computerr... not sure if I've got any elsewhere, either. When I see a good shot, I'm like AWESOME!!!, I'm not too keen on searching for the F10 or Print Screen Keys :p )
-
Really old shot. (http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/9205/lolgk4.jpg)

Cool, but it looks like abstract art. :D

:necro:
But nice shot.

A necro is a thread that is 30+ days old.
-
Fine. Then it's a :bump:
-
I think cool screenshots would be:
The Belisarius getting beamed (got a screenshot of that one)
The Collussus getting beamed
The Lysander getting beamed
The mara being chased by alpha 1 getting beamed by a capship beam beamed at another capship's beam.
Alpha 1 getting beamed
Sathanas in front of alpha 1 warping out. (Got one of those too)

Arr! Yes! Wisdom!

That's not a beam. That's an SSL, isn't it?
-
no, thats a carfully contructed beam.

no, thats a carfully contructed beam.
Don't be sarcastic with me, boi!
-
okay, so its the SSL trail effects mixed with beam-orange and threwn together into a table so the lucifier could beam people with a retail-quality effect.
-
What? SSLBeam from SA?
-
A necro is a thread that is 30+ days old.
I was under the impression that anything older than the first page was a necro.
-
What? SSLBeam from SA?
yeah, i took a look at it and decided to make a slightly better one. this one is SCP only, it uses hi-res effects and scp-only beam options.
-

Does it tile?
-
yep. it translates too.
-
bit off topic, but is the SSL considered a beam or a laser?
-
Check its table entry... ;)
-
i wonder why they just made it a trail? was the beam version too low res, and if they implemented higher-res beam effects everyones computers would slow down (this is the era of voodoo cards, remember?)
-
The beam code wasn't done yet. It's a FS1 artifact.
-
this is the point where an administrator gives me a dumb user title, isnt it?
-
Not really. ;)
-
Good, good... I was afraid this thread would die. :) More piccys, anyone?
-
i would, but my machine would die if i tried to take a screeny with the full SCP running. i already have to shut everything off to play.
-
Press the "Print Screen" or "Prt Scn" or "Sys Rq" button whenever you have a likely shot, see what happens. Check for the screenshots in your screenshots dir. It won't crash I don't believe, prolly just hang for a sec.
-
It was an SSL.
Check akenbosch's title!
-
It's not dumb. It's pretty cool. Watch how I dissect that name:
In the cutscenes, Bosch's name is sometimes shown as "Aken H. Bosch." I have theorized, based on this, that Bosch's full name (and title) is:
Admiral Aken Hieronymus Bosch. Hieronymus Bosch was some whackjob who painted people having trumpets being shoved up their asses and stuff (apparently symbolizing sin and moral failings).
-
Just one thing: use the skybox!
I know how to use skybox, but where can I get a good one, and where do I put it?
-
I know how to use skybox, but where can I get a good one, and where do I put it?
If you don't know where to put it, how do you know how to use it?
-
I know how to load it in FRED.
-
Put it in Data\Models.
-
Where can I get one? A good one?
-
There's one in the mediavps called "starfield.pof"
-
Don't forget Bobboau's Milky Way sxybox, which is simply fantastic. You should be able to find a thread about it. :)

The one in A3? It's not that good. There's some polar distortion and the textures don't tile properly at places. But it's pretty.
-
Doesn't anyone have a
good perfect* screenie?
*Screenshots must be perfect or you will die
-
I have some...bul ULing them would take ages :blah:
-
Eh? IrfanView, convert to JPEG, 40 quality, resize to 1024x768... size should not exceed 300K, which at 3 KB/sec u/l, would mean 100 seconds. :p
-
Save as PNG-Quality 9, allows better size and quality with smaller package.
-
Finally someone else noticed Bosch's middle initial... and you all ignored it.

Doesn't anyone have awesome screenies?

Finally someone else noticed Bosch's middle initial... and you all ignored it.
Well, I didn't need his middle initial to know who he was named after. Seriously, Admiral Bosch and Admiral Petrarch?
The Stalwart, for some reason, decided to turn toward the incoming Shivan cruisers, fly through the wreckage, through the node, and forward a couple hundred meters before realizing its mistake and slowly turning back toward the Colossus.
EDIT: I just checked the mission. There's a waypoint called "Behind the node". Fitttingly, it is behind the node. The event "Turn you silly bugger" apparently doesn't trigger fast enough. The Stalwart will be 711.7761189367101629645834788795 meters through the node before the event is triggered and the ship turns.

Probably, since the reference is made in FS2...

I don't get it. I assume that you are insinuating that Bosch is Petrarch's son or vice versa, but what is Petrarch's first name?

Huh? No, I meant that a character named Bosch could be a coincidence, but with a character named after the ancient scholar there's no way that's possible.
Also: GAH! It's CAAARL!

This little screenie is from my aborted project "End Of Earth"/"End Of Gaia" (planned and dumped again shortly -- althoug the idea was not that bad) and shows the Lucifer in Earth Orbit---
the skybox was "borrowed" from TBP

Poor Helsinki...

A good place to find some nice screenshots is at http://darius.rabidcarrot.com/ where the mod Blue Planet is being made. Here is some samples:
I'am using this one as my background.
Sorry if the size is a little big.

I posted that Raynor (the second one) in the old thread.
To shrink an image use the tag lvlshot
ex:
[lvlshot]bigship.gif[/lvlshot]
-
Now that is some serious eyecandy! Never imagined a Raynor could look so good! But is it just me or is it somehow resembling the Galactica from BSG??
-
Heh. Just realised those two shots make a composite scene when you put them side by side.

so much for the engines...atleast theres still everything else.
-
at least untill they blow
-
i still dont get why the beams all hitting one spot can still make the whole ship blow up...
-
it takes a second for the laws of physics (or whatever the hell of law is associated) to kick in, you know.
-
babylon 5 payed full attention to the laws of physics, and beams only caused explosions when they hit a reactor. but that never caused 10 explosions in random places of the ship, followed by the ship splitting in half, vaporizing, and releasing a blue shockwave.
-

You fool! Realism is boring! There are video games because we want video games! there are explosions because we WANT explosions!!!!
-
Well, I've always imagined the reactor to be the main power source, (ofc) which powers all other power-consuming devices on the ship (obviosly). However, the reac prolly can't spool up / down to aweful quickly (modern ones can't), as well as not being able to dump excessive amounts of energy at once. Hence, you have capacitors, for two reasons: One, to cover short, high demands of energy by such devices as beam cannons and (where applicable) shields. Two, to serve as a backup in case the reac or power distribution unit has a hiccup.
Now, as a side effect, when everything goes down the tubes, and these capacitors short out, you get some nice explosions.
Oh, and don't try this at home (unless you are foolhardy like me and my brother): Take a disposable camera with a flash, and after you're done with the film, open up the case, pull the circuit board out, stick a battery inside, charge it up, and short out the capacitor with a butter knife. Keep in mind that if you short it out with your skin, you will prolly get a small 3rd degree burn, like my brother did. XD (I was always more cautious.) Oh, and I'm not responsible if the capacitor blows up, or you short yourself out and get a third degree burn, etc, etc... I'd wear gloves if I was squeemish.

they look like they weren't even UV mapped the way they suddenly just "pop" in. Tansition from the standard metalic texture to them is terrible. Bluish glowing textures are practilcy allways nice :p

I love the last one, Sarafan. The jump effect and the place where the camera is placed...they're simply fantastic! 5 stars! :)

Hey guys,
I'm trying to get screenshots of some fighters in the middle of a dogfight. Unfortunately, it is a little bit difficult to get your fighter in the light location to get a good shot, especially if you turn to HUD off.
Instead, I'm trying to get one by attaching the camera to one fighter, and then following it through the fight. Unfortunately this always leaves the centered fighter with the targeting indicator (red or green box) around the ship. If I turn off my targeting subsystem to make the box go away, the camera jumps back to my ship.
Does anyone know of another way to get good screens of fast-manouvreing fighters? Or at least a way to keep the camera centered on a ship, but turn off the targeting indicator?
Cheers,
Energiser
-
Cutscenes? That's the only way in my opinion :)

3rd one's brilliant. Do you set these up or just take them at moments of oppurtunity?
I pretty much set them up, when I play a mission, if I notice there's any cool part or battle on it, later I replay it and try to set myself in the best position to take them. Sometimes, if it's really cool, I play it more then once and take them from different positions.
That shot with the Hecate (my first post in this thread) for example, played that one more than I care to count just to take that one. ;) It aint easy but I like doing it.

I don't know. I kinda like it in green. :)

Ya me too.

It's cleared up, and since it was intentional change I've got nothing against it.
I just remembered that there has been some unintended colour swaps before (beige Minbari Sharlins, anyone?) so I wanted to find out what this was about.
It definitely doesn't look bad green, it was just unexpected. :)

What do you have in mind? BMP? 'Cause I can't think of a better format than TGA for initial screenshots. It saves all the quality there is available in the game-rendered image. And it's relatively easy to open up the image(s) and save them as 85-90% quality JPEG's, or PNG's... or even faster and easier to find a batch converter.
I really wouldn't want FS2_Open to save screenies in any other format than TGA. :p

I don't know what's behind me, but there can't be very much left of it after this.

Remember: It's perfectly okay to make stupid noob weapons that spread 30+ submunitions everywhere. Just don't crash while you're at it.

That vessel there, is the Shiamak, from the old Inferno campaign. One of the best carriers out there in Inferno, next to the ACa Akrotiri and the GVCa Tanen
OH and I love the Star Trek crossover picture, exactly what I would have done with the Enterprise (presuming it is). I believe that model was converted from SFC 3... It reminds me of when I pwn with Shivans in the game Star Trek: Armada 2 with the FS2 mod created by Ultimate_Dragon.

High-Res Glory!!! (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,46243.0.html) ...C'mon, you've only got 5 pages of posts. Hit "Profile", on the top menu bar in HLP Forums, then hit "Show Posts", on the left. Simple. :p
Yeah, I was just being lazy. Reading Land Use and Zoning Law for 2 hours will do that to you. I gotta find a good shot to add to this thread now.

It should be the GTPh Willy. Someone should know what that means.
