I'm thinking about buying one instead of a stealth since Honda is known for their great reliability in their engines.

That Ad doesn't give much info. The seller seems more concerned about justifying the price.

yeah i know...
you guys know anything about just preludes in general? even hondas in general?

Hondas, yes, but Preludes are a discontinued product line. I don't even remember off the top of my head when they canned that particular breed. (Nice looking cars, though.)
My experience with Hondas in general has been favorable. Hands down, they have the best engine designs out there in terms of clean-running and reliability. The problem is usually that the rest of the car isn't quite as robust as the engine and drive train. On the other hand, if you are looking for a car (nothing too fancy, just a car) that won't require a lot of maintenance, Hondas are a good bet.
On the gripping hand, used cars are anyone's guess. I once found out after purchasing a used car that it had been in at least one severe wreck (found the weld marks) despite the seller's insistence that it had never been in one. Surprise surprise, other problems you would not expect for a car that young started coming up over and over again. Lesson: if you are getting a used car, go over it with a fine tooth comb, preferably with someone who REALLY knows cars and car repair.
