well, google. or
www.mythman.com (http://www.mythman.com)
i remember that always helped with those greek mythology assignments from highschool.

personally, i would use Hephestus (i think thats the spelling. greek god of the forge). off hand, he's the only one i can think of that's not taken.

Heracles not Hercules :p

Looks ok, reminds me heavily of the Zephyrus miner (not a bad thing).

Heracles not Hercules :p
Actually, it's Herakles and Hephaestus.

Post by: Flipside on July 24, 2007, 10:36:15 pm
Acutally Hephaestus was the Greek Blacksmith God, equivalent to Vulcan in Roman.

Herakles or Hercules was the Son of Zues and a Mortal, but they are both the same person, both fought the Giants alongside the Gods and rose into Olympus as a God themselves, both completed the 7 tasks etc. :)

Anyway, I'm not going to drag this thread any further off topic, so I'll say it's looking good Hades :)

There's no law against it ;)

Though, Ill admit, I always envisioned the name Olympus being more suited to some kind of enormous research and construction platform in orbit around Earth, 'Olympus Base' has a nice ring to it ;)

Here's a good place to start, basically, just Google 'Greek Gods' and flick through what comes up, as long as Safesearch is on, it isn't too traumatic ;)

Heres another update. It now has 43 guns.Still needs work.

That's an awful lot of guns if it's inteneded for Freespace ("semi-cannon", if you will).

Looks good tho.

SafeSearch filters out porn. If you type that into Google Image Search with Safesearch off, you will probably get gay beefcake porn. Which is bad. Unless you're into that sort of thing.

Depends if they are a bunch of Terran Turrets........ or BFReds.

I thought Heracles was the guy who built the Parthenon.

Looks good, Hades. Hyperion is the best name, glad you chose that one.

How big?
Title: Re: Hyperion Frigate
Post by: Snail on July 30, 2007, 06:37:42 am
Well for a standard frigate, a BGreen is sort of overkill IMO. Try four SGreens and one MjolnirBeam#home.
Title: Re: Hyperion Frigate
Post by: Snail on July 30, 2007, 06:50:50 am
Well the MjolnirBeam#home does about 3 times as much damage as the SGreen.

Yowch..........
Title: Re: Hyperion Frigate
Post by: Snail on July 30, 2007, 09:09:24 am
What yowch? That's less than the BGreen, of which the Orion has 3.

The MjolnirBeam#home does precisely one third the damage of the BGreen.

So you mean you are into that sort of thing? :P

I thought Heracles was the guy who built the Parthenon.
Wikipedia says the architects were Iktinos and Kalikrates.

I christen this warship the GTFg Camulos , after the Celtic-Roman god of war.

Hades already gave me permission, so this warship will be involved in the Destruction campaign.

If you use the Iceni as the precedent, F is the designation for frigates as well as fighters.
Title: Re: Hyperion Frigate
Post by: Woolie Wool on August 01, 2007, 09:01:05 pm
Yes, but F was applied to the Boadicea, which should be NTI. NTF Iceni is equivalent to GTVA Colossus.

This may have been said already but wikipedia is always resourceful if not always accurate.
