Vanilla FS2 only.
The Orion looks so awesome! Wish it had stronger beams. It looks like any good capital ship should.
-
Didn't we just have one of these?
-
Yes......
-
You really are a fool from hell, aren't you?
j/k
-
It's actually 4 pages in, I think he was just trying not to Necrothread too much, which is a good thing in itself, but it's a pretty recent bump :)
Basically, as long as the thing being added is relevant and people are'nt posting 'relevant' posts in several old topics a day, it's not a problem, it's only when people get silly that I get Medieval.
-
The Orion hands-down looks the coolest.

Why? The Orion can slag just about anything in a broadside. What it needs is more AAA. A lot more AAA.

Oh, sorry. Meant to say that I wish it had more armor. A Demon-class can destroy it in just a few hits anyway.

Where is the Lucifer..... You had the Collie and even the Hades, but no Lucifer?

The Colossus is not a Destroyer.....It is a Juggernaught.Remove from list please.Add Lucy in place of it. :)
-
The Lucifer is the best looking destroyer in the game, by far, and it is the one ship that isn't an option.
-
Added Lucifer. Notice the description says Destroyer+? Meaning, Destroyer or better.
The main problem with the Orion is its weapons. I changed an Orion's weapons to all BFReds and set 2 normal Typhons against it. Guess what? Both Typhons AND the Orion died....
-
It's kind of a hard choice... The Orion looks the most 'powerful,' but the HTL Hecate really looks like a kind of flying city. meh.
-
Hatshepsut looks good IMO. Big, almost like an installation, and looks powerful. The Orion's cool too... erg.
-
The Hatshepsut needs a HTL'ization. It would look mother ****ing cool. :eek2:
-
Vote for the Sath, for its intimidating looks ;7

didn't someone start to work on it and then dissapeared?
Dammit, we need a UPDATE on the HTL ships...STAT!!! And give the community 100miligrams of adrenaline! We're loosing new HTL ships!
-
At least he didn't necrothread, thats my 'thing' i do.
I voted Hatshepsut. Gorgeous fighter. And i'll always have the fond memory of the very first FS2 mission, watching it blow a hole through the Belisarius.
It's actually sort of sad, because Flavius Belisarius (im guessing who they based the name from), was one of the greatest Byzantine generals, and possibly the worlds greatest general.
-
I always remeber that the Lucifer looked bloody scary back when I first played FS1 :)
-
Oops. I meant that FS1 era thingy the Vasudans had. The Typhon. Where's the Typhon? EDIt: Darnit! And I can't change my vote!
-

It did, but its got nothing on the friggin Sathanas.

What the....the Orion aside form the Ravana is the most powerfull destroyer out there even without the BFRed's So did it lose???? Also The Hecate look kinda cool but i get scared a lot more when I see an Orion coming my way. Dont know exactly why since the Hecate should be deadlier to me since it has more decent flack. Also I find the Ravana to be a lot scarier then the Lucifer and the Sath ! Why? Because when it comes to the sath I just have to "Dive!Dive!Dive" and i'm safe.....or rather just get out iof its way.....!
Now when it comes to the vacuum cleaner the Hathshepsut I find it rather intimidating and something not to be taken too easy since it will tear you to peaces if you are not carefull but it still not as scary as the Orion bu it is more scary then the Hecate.
Anyone ever noticed that whenever you see an Orion near by there is sure to be some major capship activity and a lot of greeting beam fire around? Imean You see that Orion with the NTF admiral on board ....guess what you get the collie and some bashing and ramming. You heart about the Orion in the Nebula you hear about how it was trashed by the Ravana and its battle group. The Orion really lives up to its name and storyes.
You know the one i'm talking about...the with the....eh...nevermind im too sleepy right now ....i'l got some coffees.
-
The Demon's always been my favorite destroyer, looks-wise.
-

The Hatshepsut is more powerful than the Orion.
-
What the .....thre is no other destroyer in the GTVA that can bring to bear as many large beams as the Orion. None! Sure the Hatshepsut has a lot more hp but still that should not be a problem for the Orion right? I dont get it what did you do put them head to head? cuz in that case I believe the Hatshesut has the advantage buit broadside the Orion owns every other destroyer in game the game in fact!
Anyway it seems like the Orion is winning again! man you gootta love the old fliyng brick. its so damn scary!

Did a test.
Orion vs. Hecate
Orion vs. Hatshepshut
Orion vs. Typhon.
Spaced 15km apart and they warp in.
For Hecate.
The first time, Orion won with 50% health remaining.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8272612991090956474&hl=en
Second time, Orion won with 15% health remaining.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8844616443363119462&hl=en
For Hatshepshut
Orion won with 75%+ Health
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4786229870097778048&hl=en
For Typhon
Typhon's main beam cannon came online at like 7KM and took 30% of Orion's health. Orion closed in to firing range only after Typhon got 2 shots with main beam and obliterated the Orion with 75%+ health.

Not bad for "great war relics", eh?
The main weakness for the Orion is its low range. All the other ships opened fire upon the Orion at 2x the range of the Orion. This was particularly lethal in the case of the Typhon.
Content still being uploaded to Google Video. Forgive the quality. I play at 1680x1050 and recorded this at 840x528, but GVid reduced the quality. I know it sucks. Its mainly proof that I did indeed do the tests.
I used the SHIFT+ > key to speed things up. I dont want to wait for 40 mins.

Key word in topic: LOOKING.
-
i have to go with the lucy, that command breifing you see in fs1 where it flys and all the scorpions launched, it looked like something that had come straight from hell, very chilling! and thanks to the HTL version it now looks like the one in the ani.
Second one would be the orion, very blocky, very human
-
I thought the Typhoon wasn't capable of using beam weaponry?
-
Key word in topic: LOOKING.
I know, but some people were talking about the Orion beating everthing.
Anyway.
Yes, the Typhon has beams. The Vasudans wont throw away all their Typhons after the Great War! Like the Orion, it was fitted with Beam weapons.
-
foolfromhell, AI fighting AI it's almost possible to make a Leviathan defeat a Sathanas.

From my recollections of the Tech room info, the Typhon's power supply wasn't compatible with beams and the modifications would be too expensive, I think it's being rapidly phased out and replaced by Hatshepsuts. I'd have to double check that though.
Edit: Hmmmm.. Nope, I was wrong, I wonder what ship that was then?
Edit: Ahh.. It was in the Hatshepsuts...
The process of retrofitting the older Typhon-class warships yielded vessels prone to system failures and reactor overloads. Though a handful of modified Typhons remain in service, the Hatshepsut has taken over as the primary Vasudan destroyer
