Hey there!
First of all, a great mod, thank you for investing your time so this magnificent game can be replayed over and over again
Secon - I have a problem
I installed the mods, everything went fine up to the point when I incorporated the advanced effects.
I turned them all on, it wasn't laggy at all ( the SOC missions ), but then came the nebula missions. Now everything is laggy! I assumed the new effects did this so I turned them all off - but it didn't work. Now I'm playing the mission ( where you have to tag the ships ) without the special effects or mods ( i mean the mv_core etc...) and it is still laggy! I reload an earlier mission in a nebula ( the Trinity one ) and it is OK, but soon as I load the Tag one everything goes to hell.
So my question is - why are these particular nebular missions so laggy even without the mods?
Could you please help me out with some kind of advice, this mod is brilliant but I just can't play with it anymore.
My conf is

Thank you in advance

:welcome:
Welcome aboard, glad you like the game, sorry to hear about the problems.
Hmmm... that sounds more like Graphics card related than to do with the size of the effects, my X1600 was a devil for lagging when lots of Bitmaps are on the screen.
Does the Tag mission crash or just go unbelievably laggy?

:welcomegreen:
that happened to me, try turning on the "no hull intersect" flag in the launcher. Thats what worked for me

are you running in direct 3d or opengl?
-
in Direct3D
Plus, I installed the OpenAL and took Einstine909's advide and it helped a little bit.
But the lagging accured again in the mission where you have to scan the Sathanas' subsystems. And then never again.
So, the lagging occures in the Tag mission, the one before that and the Sathanas subsystem scanning missions
I just finished the game again, and all space and nebula missions run superbly, in 1280x1024 with all ''unnecessary'' graphics effects on (including the advanced effects), but there is something in those three missions that causes the lag.
Oh well, I can live with that :) If it's a bug it's a strange one.
Thanks everyone

Try OpenGL... Direct3D is not supported any more.

direct 3d has a memory leak, use opengl.
