You can create teams here (http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/createteam.pl). Good idea? If so, can a mod or somebody set up a team? I'll join. Thx. :D
EDIT: Created unofficial team, see this (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,48484.0.html) thread.

I'd donate my e6600 for folding@home if you dudes need help!
Ok then. Someone make a team!
-
Sounds neat, been running Folding@Home for a while now.
-
whats Folding@Home?

Theres a company that re sequences proteins to find cures for genetic dieseases.
Proteins are very complex, so, computing power is needed.
Instead of spending millions on awesome computers, they ask us to donate computer power to them when we arent using the computers.
The program is also available on the PS3.
It helps cure diseases. when you arent using your computer. Good cause to keep computer on.

It's not a company, it's a research foundation/group based out of Stanford. The research is non-profit from what I gather.
-
wonder if this includes research for diabetes? (I've had it for nearly 9 years now) Hell, I'd join the team.
-
I couldnt think about any word other than company. sorry.
-
hmm i was just about to ask this too.

It's protein folding, it covers a very wide range of medical problems. I wouldn't doubt this research being useful to diabetes research.
-
What exactly does the program do? I don't know much about protein folding, but it looks like an interesting computational problem from just a math point of view.

Let Wikipedia do it.

That doesn't really tell you what kind of model or algorithm it uses.
[edit] never mind, it seems to be a large molecular dynamics sim. good stuff.

This has absolutely nothing to do with gaming or FreeSpace or HLP, so I don't think it would be right for the board to establish a formal team.
-
Perhaps not a formal team but I can't see any reason why a bunch of people on this forum can't get together and make an informal one.
-
OWNED BY GOOBER!
MWAHAHA!

That's more along the lines of my thinking, and, as I knew what Goober said to be true before he posted that, I posted here, instead of the support forums. But I thought an admin or mod might be better to kick it off... but heck, I can do it. Whadyyall say?
EDIT: Goober said I could do an unofficial team. Here (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,48484.0.html) ya go!
