Title: Bespin (WIP)
Post by: Tempest on July 27, 2007, 05:15:20 pm
Today, I've worked on multiple things that will make Bespin more than a ball of gas.
All of these are WIP.

Starting off, a nondescript gas platform, vaguely reminiscent of one I remember in rogue squadron many years back. I doubt the City is the only platform on Bespin.

Now, for the cloud car that will keep Cloud City safe.

And finally, Cloud City itself. The city section of it is going to be redesigned, but this is a good indicator of what it will look like.

These are great models, although I didn't know these were on the priority list.

Keep up the good work!  :D

Well, they may have been acidentally left off. I think canon things we can include ingame have a greater priority than EU ships, and we will probably have bespin missions anyway.

Thanks, I'm going to try to finish the platform and Storm IV tomorrow.

Correct, it's not on the priority list, however this does expand our possibilities.  The reason it's not on the priority list is because of the fact that we're focusing on space-based missions and ships now, however this is officially our first atmospheric model, and as such, glad to see it going in!

I copied the schematic for Bespin, so the main shape is 100% accurate. Well, not quite, as the rod extending from the bottom is tilted, so I made the bottom section myself, but otherwise it's correct.

Working more on the storm.

I must admit, you work fast too.  Great job on those, it should pick up the inspiration to do some atmo missions.

Some updates.

Cloud city will consist of the main model, but the city itself will be detail-boxed. Here is the work-in-progress of it all.
Latest render of Cloud City. Sitting at 12k triangles.

We'll slap this onto the top, it will be the city you fly through.

And we'll sprinkle a bunch of buildings on there for variety.

Wow, sure, you really impresse !! Just awesome and great work. I'm sure the actual Star Wars mods will speed up pretty fast. We have a lot of models than 3 or 4 years ago >_<. Now, just texture them, add turrets and, well we could have our first demo stage ^^. Ok, I'm kidding.
