Title: Default HUD coloration question.
Post by: MadGeneral on July 30, 2007, 10:19:26 pm
Hello.

I had played FS2 years ago and really enjoyed it, found out about what you folks are doing here recently and decided to give it's upgraded bad self another whirl.

Thing is, the HUD in the version I played (The game of the year edition, I think.) was more of an olive drab instead of bright green, blue, or amber as a default. But the default on the open version is the bright green.

I have vanilla FS2 installed on another computer, is there a folder I can transplant into open to set the HUD default to that olive color?

I realize this is sort of an odd question, but any help would be appreciated.

Just look file named hud_1.hcf (or 2,3,4,5,etc), and transplant that to your FS2 SCP installation.

You could even install SCP right on top of your old FS2 retail.

I thought the game of the year edition might have a conflict or two, so I used the installer you folks had posted. Wasn't aware, good to know.

There isn't a player folder in the data folder of the version I got online, if I create it and put the hud config files inside it should work, then? Or is the player data saved in another place in the open source?

But since hes already been beamed...............

Oh and you should install the MediaVPs, and if you have a nice rig (like mine ;7 ) you should definitely have the mv_AdvEffects.vp!
BTW, heres some ship models that aren't in the MediaVPs yet:

Registered July 30th, 2007, and he's not a newb?  Pray tell what is he, then?  ;)

Use the n00b-AAA for someone who's being irritating:

Well n00b means someone who is new, or dosn't know very much about anything and needs help with every little thing........ He pretty much figured everything out himself, and all I did was provide some informationz.

But, really, just because he figured out everything doesn't mean he isn't welcome!  :p

that looks not like a bug, but a rouge .hcf file sitting around in your data or data/pilots folder. instead of going through all the trouble of transplanting files, you could have just looked around and deleted it. then you would be able to set the HUD colors yourself.

i wonder if he HAD TBP installed before, or installed it over another install. either way, it just looks like a .hcf file.
