Working title is "The End of Earth"...
kinda campaign description:
It is 2335 and the Shivans are winning the Great War. The SD Tanatalus has destroyed the GTD Bastion before it could jump to Delta Serpentis. The PVD Pinnalce is trying to intercept the SD Lucifer in time but all odds are against the Vasudans.
You are pilot aboard the GTD Yamato - 1st GTA Fleet, Sol - and it is your job to fight the last fight above the home of humanity.
The Shivans cannot be stopped but can humanity be saved?
If no one has been working on an idea like this I'll do while I wait for the Stealth improvment I guess I'll need for "Operation Home Visit"
-
Not htat I know of.
Sounds....iiiiiinteresting ;7
-
0.o, alternate history.
Alpha 1 has failed? Impossible!
Now, the question is, how do we defeat the invincible Lucifer?
Well, if you set it an actual value for shields, then the only problem is stripping them, then bombing quickly.
-
I'd guess Lucifer has lost most of it's fighter complement in all the previous battles..its not like he has a base t oressuply..So it would be mostly jsut the Lucy against the whole Terran 1st Fleet - the elite..
I'd guess 2-3 destroyers, a dozen cruisers and a ****load of fighters & bombers.. If anything can overload the shield, it's numberical superiority...
-
And the Vasudan ultra elite trying to save Vasuda Prime couldn't overload the shield?
-
Vasudans didn't have Harbringers at that time....and maby ther's more Terran defenders? Who knows, maby the vasudans were close to overloading it? Heehehe
-
The Vasudans "tried four different types of missiles" according to the FSRefBible.
My personal theory about beams piercing 'sheath' shields is that the sheath shield is basically an extremely strong shield that regenerates extremely quickly, and only a constant barrage of fire can pierce this shield. The damage needed is probably many, many Harbinger bombs exploding on the Lucifer all at once for about a minute constantly without break. Even a pause for a second or two will allow the shield to recharge to half or even full strength. All damage must be constant, with damage being delivered every split second.
The only way this could be done in the FS universe devised is the use of beam weapons. Beam weapons deliver a whole load of damage constantly for as long as the beam is fired at the targeted ship (in this case a Lucifer class destroyer). The beam will be able to pierce the shield after only a few seconds on the shield. Because the beam is always firing upon the shield, the Lucifer does not have enough time to recharge its shield. Thus, the beam will burst through, vomiting all its plasma on the Lucifer.

*SNIP*
Yes, I heard that theory of yours before. Nice one.
Alltough I remeber ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in FS - neither in briefs, debriefs, or ani ani's about vasudans trying 4 types of missiles.
-
I like the idea. I don't like the name "Yamato"...use "Roma" or something like that.
-
Use nukes on it ! Nuke the bastard ! :drevil:
-
USE THe SCHWARTZ!

the names of the destroyers are not fleshed out yet ... currently it is "Yamato" and "Gaia"
but I might change than sometime

you should now my response:

That's in the FSRefBible. Semi-canon perhaps.
-
Ah, but of course. The lucifer is invincible, with beams, and can we save Earth?
The answer, clearly, is no. Therefore, we call the rest of the GTA as being humanity, and screw the earthlings :D
Ok, maybe not. Plenty of ways to try and "save" the humans, but they aren't easy. Particularly since leaving the system is supposed to be impossible.
Waiit. If the Lucy didn't explode, the node isn't down, so that would be interesting.
-
Prolly a suicide run.
ALL SHIPS, RAM THE LUCIFER!
-
Pack 'em tight with explosives beforehand too.
-
Ramming speed!
Slaves, all in rythim now!
*dum, dum, dum, dum, dum*
YA...GTVA is broke..Destroyers are now propelled by roweres...
-
How, exactly, do oars work in a vaccuum?
My personal preference for slave-use in space travel is to hook their mouths up to airlocks around the ship, and let the evacuation of their lungs act as the basis for a ship's propulsion.
What? It's a perfectly reasonable topic to have thoroughly thought out!

Don't ask stupid question - ships are sailing trough the sea of the stars! Waht do you think pirates are doin in FS? Or the Violition Bravos for that matter!
AAAArr Ye matey! Raise the Jolly Roger ye swabs!

ever heard of Solar Sails (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_sails)?
-
This should be a interesting campaign, the Lucifer undoubtely must've lost most of its fighters, the GTA must be evacuating Earth as much as possible (not any other places in the Sol system 'cause they're not the Lucy's targets), both sides are desperate. A good question that if the Lucifer manages to bombard Earth what else is it going to do?
-
now that we have space pirates down, what about space ninjas?
EDIT: second-page replies remain hidden upon irst posting...
-

I would expect it to go back out of Sol and try join up with the Sath fleet or something.
-
Earthlings will pop the node! Leave the Lucy trapped in Sol with themselves.
-
That's gay.

plus, didn't the humans colonize mars? the lucy would just bombard that

Extremely likely, but not confirmed AFAIK.
EDIT:
Oh, BTW, this storyline has been pursued. In Operation: Underground GTD Wolf or something.
-
One of my INFA minicampaigns is about it. The Lucifer arrives, and Terra(much better than the barbarian "Earth" :P ) must be evacuated. The humans could survive in the asteroid belt, for example. Or in the outer regions of the system.
But Terra is never bombarded in that campaign...eh eh...

You're on a English-speakin' forum. So speak English.
-
Nay, Latine loqui!
So, everyone should stop writing "Liberty" and use "Freedom" instead just because that word isn't "pure English"?
And Terra is accepted...just look at the FS1 intel entry for "Terrans". It say "Terra or Earth".
-
In Operation: Underground GTD Wolf or something.
where can I get it?
-- I would search myself another storyline if it really has been done before
-
Do you really have to come out with a completely new storyline? Many of its parts could have something in common with other campaigns, but it is normal...

Dunno, was an old FS1 campaign IIRC.

hmmm...
if that is the case I could work on EoE despite that...

When I'm wirting my storylines I allways try to be as original as I can be --- I mean I do spend a lot of time trying to minimize crossovers with other campaigns --
------------------------------
EDIT:
although the outline is done and LoA is ready to hit beta testing I'll not starting this one...
I'll drop it cause the rest of WotW team is raising the presure on me to get back to FREDing there again... also the risen awareness for TBP (where you felt quite unloved during the 3.4 beta test) and the recent good critics for "The Black Hand Eps 1" (and of course the matter that I'm counting the days until B5 TLT arrives) have persured me "to return to my roots" as they say
-
Just out of curiosity, is Workings of the Warp in the same universe as Faces of Treason?
-

somewhat yes, WotW will pick up the events at the end of FoT and solve the question what really happened at the end of the battle(s) although there will be no direct connection between the story lines (eg Silun suddenly popping up)
also there will be one or the other slide change to the time line becaue I've got to get certain things involved which lead to the fall of the GTVA...

I would like to do the same thing, but there's nothing wrong in designing a campaign that has something in common with other campaigns.
There always is something original.
