Title: Everything going wrong ingame with FSO
Post by: phantompunk00 on August 04, 2007, 02:45:56 am
Hi everyone, i used to play FS2 all the time and this summer seeing i had nothing to do i began playing again, i went over the campaign a couple times, did the port, and then i d/l FS open, i followed all the instructions in the freespace wiki, downloaded all the media vps and looked all around the forums to see if anyone else had my problems. If i load the game with no features just as if i was playing normal FS2 everything seems to work, i play the first mission of the game and it always crashes when the Psamtik fires its beams at the belisarius. To make things worse whenever i play a mod, such as the FS PORT, all the ships that are in FS2 are invisible, its as if theres no model for them, i play the first mission and the orff simply isnt there, the targeting screen is blank. I figured i would try OpenGL for the graphics but when i tried it said it was "unable to get the proper pixel for opengl w32" ive tried just about everything, does anyone have any idea how i can actually get FSO to work ?

Make sure both your desktop and game have been to set 32 bit.

Alternatively if you are running vista /w Nvidia card then make sure to get latest graphics drivers

If these wont help then post your computer's specs

Are you playing on Vista, by chance? I've seen that happen before. If so, the most likely fix is to update your video drivers, as early on Vista did not have very good openGL support, but it has improved since.

the last 2 releases of geforce 8 drivers worked fine on 32-bit vista.
