Title: Reincarnation is now regulated by Communist China
Post by: BloodEagle on August 04, 2007, 05:54:51 pm
"'The so-called reincarnated living Buddha without government approval is illegal and invalid,' according to the order, which comes into effect on September 1."

This is too funny to not share, Article (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/article2194682.ece)

Someone need to shoot the chinese party in the head, and relive them of their misery...

But what if the leaders of China get permission to reincarnate?!?! :nervous:

Seriously though, the hypocrisy of that is amazing.  In order to regulate religion, they would need to have some knowledge of it.  Considering that they are officially atheist, it's incredibly contradictory.  Doublethink at work...

Next week's news: Joining the Brahman will be declared a defection and high treason punishable by death.

...and the Kami will be required to aquire a lisence of divinity before being allowed to have worshippers.

Oh those Chinese... they're getting even better than the Japanese at producing absurd humor for the masses. Can't wait when they claim Russia for themselves with their +1,000,000,000 zerg rush attack and What Came After. :shaking:

When phrased like that it sounds ridiculous but this is just China reaffirming their right to appoint monks. Then again, since they already had that right, the article is somewhat strange. Anyways, like someone wrote in the comments of the linked article.

"Does not the Prime Minister of the UK select the "Archbishop of Canterbury"?

Technically the ruling monarch of England appoints the archbishop of Canterbury, but effectively it's the Prime Minister who chooses the person appointed, in the name of the sovereign.

Rules and regulations don't really mean much here anyway.
