We're experimenting with another new forum layout, in order to emphasize the hosted projects that have actually released something or are getting something done. Let's let this go for a week or so, and then see what everybody thinks -- whether it works or not. :)
-
When I saw the announcement, my first thought was "Damn, now I've got to get used to a new layout again". But it looks ok, giving projects that have made releases a bit more prominence makes sense. And I don't need to get used to all the forums being in a new place ;)
-
What changed? I haven't noticed anything.
-
Projects with releases were given seperate categories from pure WIP projects. Only change. There's an announcement about it.
-
Good point... I've clarified the title. :)
-
Works for me.
-
I like it a lot, it is really nice for sorting out for those who have released something and those who haven't. Many thanks!

****, I created another thread about this. Delete the other thread, here (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,48670.msg987488.html#msg987488)
I'll get used to it, but it gets annoying having to keep adapting to the new layouts. Other than that,

I just merged them instead. Which had the rather unexpected result of making you the topic starter instead of Goober.

I'm an admin now! Look in ph34r as my name becomes blood red in the Who's Online list!! Ahahaha! :p
-
You're also front-page news, apparently. :p

'SGood. I like the new layout.

I rock SO HARD. :pimp:
Oh, I changed the first post so it's like Goober's.

Thanks; you just made it redundant. DELETED. :p

Aww man.

I'm iffy about it. While on the one hand it makes things clear, the repetition of "Hosted Projects" in three separate categories looks off to me. What about mandating child boards for projects that have released demos/final releases? If a project releases a demo, they create a "demo releases" child board, and it is renamed to "releases" (or "final releases") when they make a final version.
Think of it like the Recent Builds child board on the Source Code Project forum. Projects without child boards could be assumed to be WIP.
But, I also like things as they are now too. So anywho, it works. :D

That'd work Gregster, but our main goal with this change is to indicate which projects are in which positions easily. Personally I'd rather the front page of the forums weren't any more bulky than they had to be - but it does do the job.

Aye. I just moved my EDIT down because you posted just after I edited...so here it is.
I just realized, my suggestion would clutter the FS1 conversion because ST:Reborn is in it already. What about hosted projects that have other incomplete side projects under their wings? How do we classify those? Silent Threat: Reborn isn't finished, but it's a child board of a finished thing...might confuse people? No way around that, as far as I can tell...can't classify FS Conversion without classifying its sub-board. Oh well.
Oh, and by the way, your eye avatar scares the hell out of me. :D
-
I was thinking, about the new layout.
What happens when TVWP releases Chapter 1? It's not finished yet and Chapter 1 isn't a demo.
-
We'll most likely move it to the Released section. Just like the FSPort, which has put a release up for download even though ST:R isn't available yet.
-
Hey, we didn't released a demo either, it was a PROLOGUE ;7
Just kidding, the decision is yours (though I would like to see our project more on top) :)
-
Meh.
What do you think now? :p
-
No offense to the BWO guys, but I don't think BWO is in the same league as TBP and FSPort in terms of completeness. :p

[Mister Burn's Voice] Excellent ! :D

I've been complaining about this for months! :D

Now now, BWO is an amazing project. And they did release a demo.
-
That was years ago. I can hardly remember it now (although it's nice to see that it's being brought up to speed with SCP builds). By their own admission, the actual release is a long ways off.
Sorry, but someone had to say it. :p
-
I wouldn't be so sure. :)
-
the current one (at the time of this post) is pretty easy to use and get used to.
