Title: Ship names
Post by: Grizzly on August 15, 2007, 03:01:33 pm
What are good names for ships in Freespace? I've got a few:

On a Aeolus (God of the winds) Class Cruiser:
GTC Boreas (northern wind)
GTC Notus (Southern)
GTC Eurus (Eastern)
GTC Zephrys (Western) < already taken for other ship, I think)

On a destroyer:
Odysseus
Agemennon (Cardinal Spear)
Menelaos
well, any hero of the Homerus war.

on a Science Vessel:
Homerus.
Schliemann.

and finally, on an Hammer of Light cruiser:
Alpha 1.

Go hit up http://www.combinedfleet.com/kaigun.htm and steal IJN names if you like.

Names of warships past and present are appropriate to GTVA and even NTF craft.

Jihad is the holy war against yourself... so this would be more of an Alpha 1/FRED thingy.

There is also an less important Jihad, who says that you should defend your religion... some people, however, take this to letterly and to seriously...

It suprises me kinda that there aren't any Asian ship names at all in FS while... ehrm one third or a half of our population is Asian...

Yes.

I don't know why, but those names sound mean, while Japanese names sound more weak.

Typical of me...now. I'm sick of people who try to learn everything about the Japanese culture and ignore completely OUR origins. Furthermore, they call us "stupids", remember it. My missions will be all free from pathetic Japanese names.
