I have a strange problem, partially solved. I'm FREDding a mission for INFA: SA, and I'm using special hitpoints. Strange results occurred. I tested the mission, and a ship started with 0% hull integrity and engine subsystem disabled. I took her down...with a collision!
Two destroyers jumped in and had 0% of hull integrity. Both destroyers were easily taken down!
I opened the mission with FRED. I don't know why, but many of the ships with special hitpoints had a 0 value(this explained the problem with that cruiser and the destroyers). I changed it, but something strange happened. The destroyers I mentioned above belong to two different ship classes, so they should have different special hitpoints. The problem is that whenever I change the hitpoints of a destroyer, the other shares the change. :ick:
Solutions? Suggestions?

:doubt: Attach the mission?
-
How can I attach an INFA SA mission full of messages? What should I do, remove them all?!?
And the problem is about FRED, not Inferno!

Naturally. It's always somebody else's fault.

Eh? Attach the .fs2 file.

Err...no. I was saying that there's nothing wrong in the way I FREDded the mission to justify the presence of that bug...
Eh? Attach the .fs2 file.
No.

No.
Then I would suggest you fix the problem yourself.

If you tell me that posting the mission is extremely necessary, I will do it.
And how can I fix the bug?

How would I know? All I know is what happened: some capships jumped in with 0% hull integrity (should be impossible without them immediately exploding), and were easily destroyed (ofc)
Try opening up the mission in Notepad, and see if you can find the problem there (which was what I was going to do).
EDIT: Oh, and if you're that worried about your mission, you can use 7-zip to create a compressed version with a password, and then only PM the password to ppl that you want to get the mission. :p

The problem with the ships arriving with 0% hull integrity is solved....
But the destroyers share the same hitpoint values, that's the problem now.

Like I said... open it with Notepad. That's what FS2 actually reads; FRED2 is just an interface between the mission file and you (to make it easier for you to program).
*sigh* Open it in Notepad, hit CTRL+F, and look at the areas around where your destroyers are mentioned. See if you notice anything out of the ordinary. If you do, then see if you can determine the way it's supposed to be, and change it to reflect that.
-
Why he won't post up the mission?
The freakin' thing is for INFASA, and we're not leaking, 'kay? Thanx.

I know that opening the mission with Notepad is the best thing to do, but hitpoints are variables. What if there's just a single hitpoints variable for two ships?

Moderate yourself :P

Yet you have provided no proof of that.

No.
Very well. There's no point in continuing this thread then.
