Hi, I hope this is the right forum.
I've got a problem with the Mission EXODUS (when you start to command the blue lions).
The armory just lets me use subach, rocketeye and tempest! Any way to fix this? I tried to clean the cache, no luck
-
Uhm...try to "reset" the loadout just before starting the mission. :)
-
eeeh, I wish it could be that easy! :ick:
-
well, you can always use the ~+9 and ~+0 in cheat mode to change you weapons.
-
Can you still select your ship for the mission?
-
kinda, in the hagar there are only bats and the new ones, fenyris I think (beauty!)
-
Erinyes and Ulysseses. Pardons, I can't form a plural from Ulysses.
I'm no expert but that would sound like a corrupt pilot file.
Edit: Ok, apparently the plural for Erinyes is Erinyes. But how do you pluralize Ulysses? Is it just Ulysses?
-
yep, those things
God, I have to redo it again! :'(
-
Waitwaitwait!
We should get a confirmation from a guru, but I think I remember hearing that you can fix it by cloning the pilot file or something. Not sure.
-
Mmm... cloning won't work
-
K. I still say that you should wait for some time before you kill your current pilot file, in case someone comes up with a simple solution to this dilemma.
-
It must be some kind of corrupt pilot file. This happens to me, too. A weapon must be "given" to the player throughout the campaign using add-tech SEXPs. As far as I can tell, this seems to be a crude quality-control feature made by Volition (a weapon won't show up in a campaign mission unless one of the previous missions had an add-tech SEXP for it). Anyway, I don't know how it got screwed up, but it appears that your pilot file lost track of what weapons you've been "allowed". I'm no expert, so don't get excited just yet.
In SCP, and probably retail FS2 also, you can switch campaigns without loosing progress. You'll get a warning that you will loose progress, but you won't; this error message is an obsolete holdover from FS1. You shouldn't need to replay the whole campaign over again. Just go into FRED, build a quick campaign with a bunch of add-tech SEXPs in the first mission, play the campaign, then return to the main campaign where you left off. The add-techs should have given you all the weapons you wanted.
If this doesn't make any sense to you, let me know. FRED is the FreeSpace mission editor, do you have any experience with it?
-
I am on a mac... I can't even use FRED :(
I guess that I messed around too much with the mods
-
That could also be a problem. Constantly changing your game files and switching campaigns= not good.
I'm at college now, but if I had FRED available I'd make the mission for you. Congradulations on getting any decent game to run on a Mac. :p Don't mean to flame.
What I would do is create a new pilot and play the campaign again, or just restart it with your current pilot. Creating an add-tech mission like I mentioned would be extremely easy, but I'll probably forget. Just play the campaign again, use cheats and breeze right through it.

Jezz, I passed that mission with those basic weapons, and still Petrach doesn't let me use the proper beauties in the next one!
Why flame? I was gutted when I couldnt run Freespace 2 on my 133Mhz 6 years ago, I was so glad on running both the games on my mac now! I guess I have to find a cheap copy of Virtual PC or get an Inter Mac, if I want to mess around with FRED!
All right, let's redo the game!

What about Erinyes fighters and Ulysses fighters?
-

Well, that would solve it but then I'd feel sort of uncomfortable with repeating the word 'fighters' over and over again. Kind of like excessive use of exclamation marks. Or I dunno.
-
I wouldn't compare using "fighters" over again with using an excess of exclamation marks. Remember that most FS fighters' class name derives from a proper name, mostly Greek. Person names are not supposed to be pluralizable. Which one would you say better, anyway, "Thomases" or "Ulysseses"? I wouldn't say either. I would rather risk a wordy phrase "two guys named Thomas" or "Ulysses fighters" than say words that sound alien or aren't supposed to exist.
-
Fine. Let's make a compromise: Erinyes and Ulysses fighters. Right?
-
You don't have to play the whole campaign over again. I believe there's a command that lets you unlock every mission for access through the techroom. You can then just play them in order from there.
I just don't remember what the command is.
-
Ctrl + Shift + S
But you have to play each mission separately, and it really ruins the campaign feel.
-
did you ever use your pilot with an inferno build? i heard that can cause some problems
