I need some ideas on how to make it better so... what ya think?

I'd come by IRC and chat about it if you get a chance...also Einstine came back, and he dropped off some laser effects too.

I dunno, looks more purple-pinky-orange to me really...

I have an inexplicable fear of irc.

Just stay away from Warpstorm and you have nothing to fear. Unless they crash our channels again, then you should probably run.

I like them. no ion cannon so... well do you like mine?

That's one of the things we talked about in IRC, the ion is really only shown in the movies in the planetary format, so that's the only reference for what one should really look like.
-
I like the varied detail in it rather than a straight color. I know, as shown above, the canon cannon (ha) was pinkish-orange but I think every other use of them, in games at least, over the years has been a blue bolt, and as such, will be more recognizable.
Still, being the P'shop freak I am, I had to play with it to shape it a bit more like how I remember seeing it before. Anywho, here is how I defiled it (http://home.comcast.net/~strykeman/pics/ion.jpg), just in case it may help with ideas.

Yes, the games did use blue. However, they're pretty much at the bottom of our list for reference material, and we really don't want to let them have too much influence over what we make vs the movies, books, comics, etc. If there's no other reference to solid blue ions than in the games, we've only really got that planetary ion to go on, and it's definitely not blue. Now, shipboard ions may be different, but then we've got the freedom to do what we want with them as well. One thing we discussed was to take that planetary ion color, and give it a more red or green tint, whether it's rebel or imperial.
