Title: Sensory Challenge
Post by: jr2 on August 28, 2007, 02:09:59 am
Sensory Challenge (http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/body/interactives/senseschallenge/) - I got 8/20 :(  I need to "sharpen up"  :p  What do you guys get?  Any surprises?

I got 11, but I consider asking you about 'What is a tasty food' is cheating because it is both based on opinion, and more centred around your culinary knowledge than any real sensory ability.

10. I also agree with Flipside about the 'tasty food' part. I found all of those combinations pretty repulsive. I got them right by guessing but that just kind of ruins the purpose of the test.

Ya, the tasty food bit was kind of odd.  I liked the questions that directly challenged your wit / senses.

17/20, I'm sensational.

But it is a matter of opinion if beacon and white chockolate would taste good. Seeing how I like both, but have never tasted caviar, I didn't consider it a fair question but rather "who guesses what the makers of the question preferred". I liked the sense challenges too (got them all correct IIRC), the quiz questions were all right but the opinion questions were nonsense.

stupid ****ing directions and the time limit, I don't know what they want me to do half the time, I usuaky try to do the thing I'm suposed to be avoiding.

for example "line up the lines" first time I thought I was suposed to  have the points the lines touch the rectangle be at the same height. the "colored text thing" I thought I was suposed to give what the text said not what the color was. the fact you have less than 30 seconds to read directions and do the test sucks.

and since when is pineapple and soy sauce a tasty combination? :wtf:
what makes food taste good is totaly ****ing opinion! I would imagine bacon and white chocolate would go well together because they are both basically fat, not to mention the fact I have no ****ing idea what caviar tastes like.

again directions am I suposed to be picking out what the person in the video is saying or what the person in the audio track is saying, nothing is more angry with rage inducing than clearly hearing the person saying mamamamamama but thinking you are suposed to be ignoring that and lip reading just to get an explanation at the end that you are wrong cause "most people mis hear it because of what they see in the video"

and towards the end they aren't even testing senses, there just asking you ****ing random trivia questions about ****, how is basically trying to remember back to my phycology class to remember which part of the brain was responsible with memory a test of sences!?!

Bah I got 16 out of 20, but only because I had to stop half way and do it again. :doubt:

I stopped after test 6. It's stupid afterall.

Some of the answers were logic(highlight and Godzilla VS King Kong) because I read of these kind of tricks. And the +/- system is punitive, it doesn't make differences between little and big mistakes(I made two LITTLE mistakes). Lucky or unlucky. Black or white. There should have been a "what a pity, you were almost there". Taking consideration only of correct answers brings to nothing.

The test is bad. People who read articles have a considerable advanced. That test is a copy and paste of other stuff. Classic English stuff.

I was off on the +/- system by a bit and it gave me the green.

Well, I scored a 4 and I had a good time. And I'm sorry you guys didn't score well. It's a very important test, you know. Really important to get a good score.

That test is stupid, some of the questions are based on preference and not fact. By the way, how am I supposed to know what ingredients are in parmesan cheese?

Also, I think white chocolate and bacon would taste better.

Well, you're all right, it is a trivia test, I guess, they mis-labelled it.  What uni put it together?  Oh, wait... :nervous: I just checked, it's the BBC of UK.  XD  Well, I thought it was interesting, and now I don't feel so bad about getting a low score.

The Italian one? The one foreigners attempt to copy with pathetic results? THAT one?!?

Wow diceman, I tried it again and got only 16/20

I wasn't really taking it seriously the first time, just trying to figure out what was going on. Which made me really surprised about how upset you guys where.

Okay, this thread can die now.
