Hey, have you modelers here never thought of making a version if the Apollo model which looks like Lt. Ash's craft in the FS1 intro? Or did I just missing something, again?

I do already have this HTL version of the Apollo, downloaded from here (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,35943.0.html). But I would like to have exactly the version we see in the FS1 intro, with the primary gun port under the cockpit a.s.o., you know? So just what we see in the first post of that thread. :) Is that one available anywhere?

You mean the so called "bomber variant", right? I don't think there actually is one such ship in circulation.

the modeling task seems easy enough. you just have too modify a few bits and add the extra missle rack.

heck, why not make an interceptor and gunship appollo too?

What do you mean? The bomber variant of the Apollo is canon. I have never heard of an interceptor variant(the Apollo can already play the role of interceptor) or gunship variant(this one would be stupid).

it said GTF 5 on ash's appollo, possibly meaning that there were 5 variants. use your imagination.

I said the same thing in another thread. But there can't be a gunship variant. I'm actually thinking of light fighter, heavy fighter variants.

To be perfectly honest I'm too lazy to get all the texturing knowledge just for one model. I think an experienced modeler could do this in quite a short time. Any volunteeres around here to do this. :nervous: :D Adding additional gunbanks doesn't look very difficult to me, but texturing - no chance.

I did a low-poly Apollo DH just for fun some time ago....
new textures (just ajusted negatives of the orginial ones), gun banks located below the cockpit, one of the missile racks is where it is in the FS1 intro
never brough it seriously ingame though

Nice ships....You know I think after we HTL almost all the ships (Like 3-8 more ships) we could start making the concepts as a ship pack. :D

A few weeks ago I changed the gun ports of the Thoth just for fun how to see as it works. I remember that it took only two or three klicks in ModelView to change the primary banks to secondaries and the other way round. Now I can't find these settings. GODDAMMIT! I'm so angry about this! I could knock my head into a wall at the moment. :mad:

When I looked at the "heavy" concept version of the Apollo, my first though was:
Variable fighter, those engine pods are meant to swivel and turn, turning a solid fighter into a hell of a dogfighter.

now, i've reformatted and actually lost the maps to this apollo.
i know someone out there still has them, i'd really like them back now that im playing through FSPort again...

I like a lot of the "old" versions of ships, from the GTF Apollo in the intro to the colorful Lucifer featured in the cutscenes.
