Title: "Save our Souls" make that "MY MISSION !"
Post by: Vidmaster on September 01, 2007, 06:18:33 am: scripted a TBP mission for my campaign in FRED, opened it accidentally with FRED-INF, saved and now I get a CTD every time I load the mission in the tech room. It happens both with the FS2open and inf build of TBP. Even in debug mode, i dont get an error message, it just crashes.

Is there any way to save my mission ? :shaking: :( ...plz... ? :nervous: :nervous: :nervous:

Post by: karajorma on September 01, 2007, 07:17:17 am: Since missions are basically text files it's almost always possible to repair them if they break. But the process is probably too complex to explain unless you can tell me what's actually wrong with the mission (i.e running the debug build of FRED).

And the events for failing are not done yet.

various events had some wierd thing on them... instead of
+Team: 0
had something like
+Team: 80311584

changed that back to "+Team: 0" and voila it worked
looks pretty much like something FRED screwed up while saving - happens rarely; once per FREDer you could say

I attached the changed version below - cut down the file name a bit so it will be regonized but does not replace your stuff until you tested it

Hmmmmmmm. I've actually seen that happen before too. I'll have to look into what is causing it.

maybe you should consider re-doing that mission in a new mission file - since you can still open the mission like a text file with the txt-editor you wouldn't even have to start from scratch

Post by: Vidmaster on September 03, 2007, 10:22:51 am: yep, i got the alternate installer of TBP and I played using the normal build, although it seems I should have used the INF build from the beginning.

still, this mission doesn't work on both. And what is most disturbing is that it does on your TBPs. Hell, I even deleted it and installed a fresh one !
