Could anyone direct me to the links that I'm required to visit to get started with this game. I realize that there are a few threads offering advice but there is so much stuff going on that I am ridiculously confused. Could someone be kind enough to please make an exception and offer me a link to a compilation torrent that includes everything I need to hop online and play with others. Or at least offer some advice on what is required. Do I simply need a copy of FreeSpace 2 and and the SCP, or are there a lot of other required downloads? Also, I am currently downloading the Battlestar Galactica mod that's based on the SCP, does this mean that I am no longer required to download the SCP, or do I still need too? Thank you. :) I hope I'm not asking for too much.

Dunno about torrents but would advise you to use Turey's FSO Installer. See the instructions here (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,47045.0.html).

BtRL is completely stand alone. If you want to play FS2 as well you will need to download it separately.

Torrents are in my siggy, as well as other methods, including the one Lobo posted.

Thanks for all the replies, I'll see if I can figure this out. :/ :P

To clarify though, I will need to find a retail install of FreeSpace 2. And then I need to download the 20mb SCP installer.

No. Turey's FSO Installer will download everything. Retail FS2 is not required.
Download the Installer, run it, select the desired options and it will download the game for you. Note that full install exceeds 3 gigs, so it will take some time.

You don't need retail FS2 as Turey's installer will download and install the retail game for you. If you have it however you should install it. It will save you a hell of a lot of bandwidth if you do.

What he said. In addition, if you follow my Turey's Installer walkthrough (in my sig), it will tell you how to save even more bandwidth by copying the cutscenes from the Retail discs first... just follow the directions. Also, there are directions for using the 20KB Java installer, instead of the 20MB Windows clone of the Java installer. (Works on Windows, Mac, and Linux.)

Ok, thanks again for the replies. Looks like Turey's is the way to go.
