Title: Where's the mods/campaigns...
Post by: Leuthesius on September 06, 2007, 02:43:29 am
Either I'm totally flippin' blind, or they aren't easily findable.

I'm seeing posts talking about white stars and vorlons and whatnot, but the only b5 campaign I've found is the raider one. Links plz.

IIRC hip63 put together an Installer with all the extra campaigns.  If you search his username under the "members" section, and click to show his posts, you can find it.  (I know, I'm being lazy.. :p )

Seems pretty silly to download the entire game again just to get extra campaigns though. That's a ridiculous waste of bandwidth.

I spotted one release on the 1st page of this forum though so start here (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,47983.0.html) instead.

Word of advice. The more you make campaign makers feel bad, the less likely they are to make campaigns. I am sure MAG tried to make his release date, and will try to make this one. If you don't trust release dates that's fine but don't rub the guy's nose in it.

It was no offence but a reaction of disappointment. Not only ´cause I like to see EBW as soon as possible. But MAG set EMW and BHX to a halt in order to get EBW ready (what makes sense, because it´s better to finish one thing before going on with another. But EBW comming out "in a few months" most probably means that we won´t see EMW and BHX this year.  :(

What you mean is "no offence was intended", but comments like this can cause offence. Put yourself in MAG's position. He's knocking himself out, without being paid, to create something for you to play. You show your gratitude by calling him out over a self imposed deadline?  :wtf: As for finishing one thing at a time. Making a campaign on your own takes a lot of time. Some people need to have a couple of projects going to keep things interesting. If you're doing the same thing for a year, it can get dull. Capisce?

finally i get to play survivor !  :)

Of course, I already played the rest and especially b5starfury pilot is a lot of fun (SEVERED DREAMS !!!). Infestation was just crazy (no offense) but I liked the branching. Just the basic idea creeps me, I am more the "keep it serious" type.  :doubt:

A question regarding EA training. I don't think this really teaches somebody who has never played any Freespace before, how to fly. It is a wonderfull idea and I thing TBP could benefit from a real training mission. Problem with EA pilot is, that the challenges at the end are more difficult, the instructions seem to be made for someone who already played Freespace and that it is possible to trick the instructor and to do stupid stuff sometimes. Now the question: Is it intended to be a rookie training ? If not, forget this stuff.

for the updated versions - the heatem site and downloads are back online :)

www.heatemup.co.uk

The training missions do help new people to the game, many of my friends have played it and it has helped them rather than getting thrown in the deep end like the otheres.  It is training, simple as that, some parts are quite challenging even for experienced players.  The fact thats it EA and at the IO transfer point is a random sort of thing.  Ideally I would have liked a scripted voice acted training simulation at Babylon 5.  But I dont have the time, Voice acting support and resources needed to make this happen.
