Title: GTVA Titan model released. Rejoice!
Post by: Vengence on September 06, 2007, 04:34:19 pm
(http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/9227/titanzi8.jpg)

I haven't modded fs2 in so long I forgot to release my GTVA Titan, the replacement for the long lost Colossus juggernaut. I loaned this model to be used in the supposedly remade Titan Rebellion campaign, which I hear is great. The campaign never got finished as far as I have heard but I got the unfinished campaign along with the missions and best of all: A GTVA Titan juggernaut... fully pofed, coded, and implemented. I am including all the related info in the readme. BUT!!! Do me and the original coder a favor and READ the freakin readme.

Included in the zip is my titan pof, maps, obj file, and readme. I even included a name plate for the Titan written on and plain so you can have the GTVA Titan model with a different name. Everything you need to know is in the included readme.

This is a rapidshare download. Feel free to send it to Hades but be sure to credit me and Admiral Nelson. To download click the "Free" near the bottom.

OK, upload the new copy. And please rename this thread, "Sorry, looks like I have forgotten" tells nothing about the contents ;7

EDIT: Ok, dowloading now :)

EDIT2: Rapidshare will not work with my connection  :(
Please send me the file via e-mail or via MSN.

The link from the FSCRP forum for my version is still active:

Here is the WIP SCP Titan Rebellion (http://files.filefront.com//;6881512;;/)

We were supposed to move on to this once Warzone and Boomerang were finished.  If anyone else out there would like to help out with the missing final three missions....

Nelson I released this model because I thought your campaign was dead.... Well everyone, what you have there is the Campaign with my GTVA Titan. Go and get it. Sorry I couldn't reply before about the mirror thing, I know no other mirrors that work better.

It will not upload, it keeps saying;

Sorry
You must fill in the fields: File, Title and Category.

When I did. :blah:

Too big a file. You need to request special permission from a site admin to upload a larger file like that one.
Title: Re: GTVA Titan model released. Rejoice!

For a good reason. I took the code from the Titan Rebellion coding and that is not my code. You will have to recode the weapons. Look I don't mod fs2 that much, too busy with other ones so I can't fix it.

Title: Re: GTVA Titan model released. Rejoice!

I don't think so. The file falls under the "too large for normal user to upload" category. Only an admin can upload something >2 megs. He'd need to post on this forum (http://www.hades-combine.com/web/Forum/viewforum.php?f=4) to get it uploaded, I think.

It looks nothing like the Hades to me - But sort of something the GTI would create... I've always been fascinated by the GTI.

You are giving credit to the people at Kerberos, correct? Because this is a reskin and import of a Human dreadnought from Sword of the Stars.

whoa lots of posting when I was gone. In the readme I SPECIFICALLY said that it was inspired by a ship in Sword of the Stars. Credit enough I suppose. And NO it is NOT a reskin and import. I made it from scratch and referencing 3 pictures only. Secondly, this is no siege driver when I was making it. I just really liked the design and took a while to model it. If you can provide the SOTS mesh itself then I can prove without a doubt that my mesh is an original creation, that I made it myself.

And you know this how?
If he shows us a WIP thread, that will be proof enough.

I once did have a wip thread long ago. Can't remember it though.

EDIT: I found the wip thread:
http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,41934.0.html

Look at that date. Made over a year ago! Man that was way back! Even back then I credited SOTS.

Awesome model.  Are some of the turrets not in the table?  I can get the ship in game, but none of it's weapons fire.  Do I need to edit the table?

I'm not sure. A deal of weapons are missing so you will have to outfit it with your own weapons. I never tested this either so I don't know what to do.

I Put weapons that were either FS retail or my own versions on.

Rapidshare won't work on my connection too. I'll have to wait for mirrors.

Unless someone wants to host it on Filefront... I would've done it already if I had the file. ;)

Looking at the ship in FRED, and I can't see or edit any turrets (ie. the're not showing up in FRED or ingame) I had a similar problem with Aldo's Boilerplate. I can't remember what I did to fix it..I think it was by standardising the naming convention for each turret.

EDIT: Found it. Turret submodels didn't have any subsystem properties. Now they're showing up in FRED fine.

Darius, what do you mean they havn't got any subsystem properties?

The turret submodels need $special=subsystem and $fov in the POF data, otherwise they won't show up as subsystems. I used ModelView, but I'm sure PCS can do it too.

Oh now that is too much. Thanks  :D

EDIT: Darius, what do you mean they havn't got any subsystem properties?

OBJ and MTL are files to be imported into 3d programs. This will allow you to edit my model and improve it. My current model has no debris or destructable parts. This will allow you to perfect the model for FS2 if you have the tools.

Vengence your version also looks nicer then the SOTS version.

She does. Maybe think about giving it to them.

I am not too sure. The model has well over 10,000 polygons and SOTS is a strategy game. It would kill the engine  :P.

I completely forgot about that piece. If you can, will you please send me the fixed POF. In fact... is it possible to put it up here?

Here (http://darius.rabidcarrot.com/TitanComplete.POF) you go.

I've put in 90 turrets at a default fov of 90, but it's easy enough to go and change or add more turrets if you need to. Admiral Nelson's table only uses 85 to start with.

Also don't forget to make the missile turrets SBanks as opposed to PBanks in the table, else they won't fire ingame.

It depends. The only other ships I have are for my original story and style. They won't fit in any kind of other lore unless you make one yourself.

You know... I may tweak the Titan a bit to suit my needs....*IF* I use it in FOW3, it's function (more aking to SOTS function) and size will have to be changed. ;)

FOW3? If you want to do what you say you will have to edit the model with that obj I included. You can? I don't mind, I kinda like the idea of an ultra huge mass driver :D.

Don't think I'll make it over 3Km big..I'm turning the whole front section into a gigantic coilgun...and I made the lower rector thingy into a revolver style ammo storage :P ...but still with a reactor in the middle....so someone has to shoot trough a ****load of massive tungsten (or whatever) round to even get it it...no way

For the effect I don't think I'll use a model but rather a 0.1 second duration beam with practilcy no growth or shrinkage or warmup/warmdown, but MASSIVE damage. One-shot-Sath killer, coming up ;7

Ok, whats your e-mail? Your account says it is hidden. It is already big at over 6km and it has like 124 turrets. This one http://darius.rabidcarrot.com/TitanComplete.POF (http://darius.rabidcarrot.com/TitanComplete.POF) has been edited by Darius by activating 90 of the turrets but there are also missile turrets and this is only the POF and not the coding.

Seriously, someone should convert the Titan to at least 5 LODs...

I personally don't mind about LOD 2 and up. It's debris LOD (LOD 0)
Dam, failed, I have. Disgraceful, I am.

I made 2 new textures for the model and I don't know anywhere else that can upload them. I mean, I am allowing you all to post it at HC but it is not there.

What do you mean? This model has no LODS or debris. You'll have to make them for yourself.
