Title: Help with FSPORT installation.
Post by: biditm on September 10, 2007, 04:23:47 pm
I cannot run FS2 with the FSPORT mod enabled.

I'm guessing my installation of FSPORT is incorrect.

The following is my FSPORT directory tree:

+---fsport
|       FS.bmp
|       fsport-awakenings-voice.vp
|       fsport-awakenings.vp
|       fsport-destinyofpeace-voice.vp
|       fsport-destinyofpeace.vp
|       fsport-EODRedux.vp
|       fsport-fs1_training.vp
|       fsport-glow.vp
|       fsport-hi_res.vp
|       fsport-missions.vp
|       fsport-shine.vp
|       fsport3_0_4.vp
|       mod.ini
|       sparky_hi_fs1.vp
|       stu_fs1.vp
|       tango_fs1.vp
|       warble_fs1.vp
|
\---data
    +---cache
    +---movies
    |       ancients1.avi
    |       ancients2.avi
    |       ancients3.avi
    |       ancients4.avi
    |       ancients5.avi
    |       CommandBrief.avi
    |       ENDGAME.avi
    |       hallfight.avi
    |       intro.avi
    |       lab.avi
    |       str-mystery1.avi
    |       str-mystery2.avi
    |
    \---players

I'd appreciate any feedback on this problem.

I'm sorry if I missed the answer to the above question in the FAQ or another post.

What happens?  Is there an error displayed?

Select the FSPort campaign?

Well, for one thing, you shouldn't have all these mods...

|       fsport-awakenings-voice.vp
|       fsport-awakenings.vp
|       fsport-destinyofpeace-voice.vp
|       fsport-destinyofpeace.vp
|       fsport-EODRedux.vp
...in the same folder.  Use Turey's installer to put them in the right places.

Thanks to all.
Turey's installer  doesn't work for me--the next button is grayed out forever.

However, I can play the FSPORT mod when I manually move the files you mentioned into their own mod directory.

Thank you all again!

Why?

Also, the .AVI movies won't work on anything past 3.6.9.  You should replace them with .MVE or .OGG instead.

Thanks, I'll look into AVI to MVE/OGG conversion.

Also where do I place the current AVI movies that I downloaded from the FSPORT site?

Currently they are all in the \fsport\data\movies\ directory.

Here is my directory structure:

What you have looks good, with a few points:

1) str-mystery1.avi and str-mystery2.avi are not in-game videos; they're trailers.  So you can put them wherever.
2) What is OUT.TXT?
3) You should put fsport-fs1_training in the fsport folder, and delete the fsport-fs1_training folder.

Thanks Bro!
OUT.TXT is the file I used to pipe the output of the directory tree.

I am using FreeSpace Port 3.0.4 and version 3.6.7 of FS2 Open.

When I try to start the fsport campaign from the ready room using my pilot from fs2 the game crashes with the following error:

   Error: Invalid subsystem name.

However, I do not get a error if I create a new pilot and start the fsport campaign.

I apologize if this error has already been reported.

Well, generally the best option is to create a pilot for each campaign. Switching between campaigns with a single pilot is bound to cause a load of errors. Create a pilot for FS2 and a pilot for FSPort.

Also, why use fs2_open_3_6_7? Get fs2_open_3_6_9 (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,44291.0.html).

3.6.7 was the first version I ever used. When was it released? 2004?
