Title: Iz nice, thanks... but iz not my island.
Post by: Maxwell on September 10, 2007, 08:43:56 pm
Another year, another training session on *checks airline ticket* Beautiful Anguilla.

Things I expected:
1) The water smells funny... not gonna drink it.
2) The maps the tourism dept hands out are useless (expect that anywhere you go in the caribbean).
3) Cell phones do not work.
4) Our "hotel" is actually an apartment, with no food service. The owner locks us in at night and leaves a pair of angry dachunds patrolling the front yard (well I didn't expect the rabid weener dogs but the rest is par for the course).

Things I did not expect:
1) The soda smells funny. I think they use the same water.  :sigh:
2) Theres only one major road so you dont NEED a map, but whatever your looking for is probably  in the opposite direction of the one you started driving in.
3) There are no fast food joints here, apparently. we've already searched the island.
4) Calling cards cannot be found, anywhere.  I bartered my last one for a pack of hotdogs so another tech could call home.

Someone send help.
...or more hotdogs.

Why do you need calling cards if you have the internet? And what are you there for again?

...That might explain why the cashier gave me a nasty look when I asked her for one.
