Title: Jack Thompson feels his physical safety is threatened

I'm surprised this hasn't been vigorously discussed in here yet...

Apparently a lawyer gets killed in GTA IV. Jack Thompson goes to assume that lawyer is him, and demands the part deleted from the game stating this episode could "threaten his physical safety".


I think we should do our part in this and ridicule Jack Thompson a bit again.

Hang on a sec. Jack Thompson himself commissioned the creation of a video game where the objective was the murder a video game executive modelled on the head of Take Two software. When the game was made he refused to pay (even though the money was supposed to go to charity) and called it satire.

So what ****ing leg does he honestly think he has to stand on over this?

The thing is, this dead lawyer may very well be based on Jack Thompson. What I don't understand is how this could "threaten" him at all? :confused:

Hmmm...

It's interesting to note how some of the US's greatest whack-jobs all seem to have connections to Law in some way or another, lawyers, in particular, seem to be a breeding ground.

Funny. Especially considering his earlier antics that Kara just mentioned. That deserves some kind of special ridicule, above and beyond normal mockery...

Tell you what, I'll paypal 5 dollars to the first person who mods a shivan fighter to include a cockpit, textures the pilot's head with a picture of JT's face, then makes a mission where you can blow it up repeatedly (while he's repeatedly cursing and threatening to sue you, of course) and packages it all in a nice VP for easy distribution. After that, we can then lobby to get it included in the media VPs ;) And unlike JT, I'm good for the money :p

Am I the only one who's starting to get the feeling Jack Thompson might actually simply be in Rockstar's employ?

He gets them so much free publicity that if he isn't maybe he should consider taking a job with them. :D

I agree with Jack in that it definitely is him in there. I disagree with him that it threatens him in any way.

Can't someone just file suit against Jack Thompson as a public nuisance instead?

You can't sue someone for being a public nuisance per se, but you certainly can for any damages resultant from his actions...

So first, petition the National Bar Association (if it hasn't been done already) to have him disbarred due to his frivolous and potentially fraudulent lawsuits, as well as wasting court time and money on those suits.  If not disbarred, a court could at least be petitioned to order that his law license may not be renewed.

After the legal matter is taken care of, get a class action suit together for reimbursement of money paid for bandwidth from stories and discussions about his assclownery (technical term).  Any sites that have run a story, linked to a story or hosted discussions about his antics would be able to take part in the suit.  Of course, each site will get every bit of 13 cents.   :lol:
