the Administration banned Kazan. I'm assuming he was banned because he has a backbone, opinions, and a foreskin fetish, as if anyone else here didn't have those. I also like how Kazan is also one of the most dedicated, devoted, veteran members of our community, and how modders use his stuff on a regular basis, modders that keep this community alive. And yet, he's banned because he has a big mouth. Because time or dedication or a love of the game don't mean anything around here anymore. I like that, Administration. Real shining example as the last bastion of Freespace fandom.
Oh wait, see what I did there? By saying "I like," I really meant that I think it's completely idiotic. That's irony for you, always so tricksy.
Really though, keep it up, maybe you can drive off all of the veterans and anyone who ever contributed anything useful to the Freespace Community.

Isn't this kind of old? Nodewar not as interesting as it used to be or something?
Update: And having checked the logs... Kazan isn't even banned? Unless you know something that I don't...

Kazan was banned from the hard light forum because he couldn't pass any discussion on a very wide range of topics without feeling the need to insult anyone who didn't agree with him.
He can still post anywhere else on this board.

Think of it as constructive criticism ;7

Thunderjorma - Nodewar has been dead for years. You know why? Because we were pricks to pretty much everyone who came there. But we never pretended to be anything else. It's not really any different than here though. Instead of putting goatse in people's profiles or changing their title names when you don't like them, you close their threads, edit their posts, ban them, brand them with dumb titles, whatever. It may be more subtle, but you're still sending good people away. It's a lot slower death here though, because you had a larger base to start with.
And of course things are going to get heated in a forum where your staple topics are "OMG look at what this Tele-evangelist said! religion is so dumb!" and "WOW more proof the world is melting, we're all going to die!" and you shun anything otherwise. If you can't stand to get your e-nose a little bloody in a forum that mostly deals in unresolvable opinion, then you probably shouldn't be on the internet.
The fact that more time is spent moderating that forum (and with a completely serious face as well) than is spent on virtually any other aspect of the community (aside from Styxx's annual main-site code overhaul (break down) ) still boggles my mind.

And in that last sentence you've answered your own question on why the flamers are banned. It was simply much easier to monkey someone than to spend hours dealing with this sort of problem.
If you can't discuss a subject without having to resort to petty name calling then quite frankly you shouldn't be in a discussion forum in the first place. Either keep a civil tongue or find you can't post in Hard Light Discussion. It's not a hard thing to do for most people.
